Headteacher - Mr J Ayre

Assistant Headteacher - Mrs S Humphreys

Dear Parents & Carers,

Thank you once again for your incredible support throughout the week. The dedication and involvement of our parents and carers have been instrumental in the continued success of our school community. I am pleased to share that the attendance of our pupils across this half term has been significantly improved, surpassing both national and local averages. This achievement is a testament to the collaborative effort of our entire school community.

The positive impact of improved attendance on pupil attainment and social development cannot be overstated. Your commitment to ensuring your child's regular attendance contributes greatly to their overall success and well-being. I encourage you to continue this excellent support as we move forward.

Year 6 SATs Practice: This week marked the penultimate assessment week for our Year 6 pupils. Following last year's outstanding results, which were the best in both Wakefield and the West Yorkshire region, our current Year 6 pupils have a tough act to follow. As Headteacher, my focus is on maintaining high standards and providing the best possible environment for our pupils to excel. I am pleased to report that our current Year 6 group is performing unbelievably well. This success is attributed not only to the strong parental support but also to the exceptional quality of teaching our pupils receive daily, coupled with the genuine dedication of our students who strive for excellence.

Enrichment Activities: It was a pleasure to witness Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 classes participating in a captivating falconry workshop this afternoon. Such experiences contribute to the holistic development of our children, fostering curiosity and a love for learning.

Additionally, today's Cross Country event was a great success. All pupils demonstrated remarkable resilience, showcasing the importance of sportsmanship and perseverance. These events play a crucial role in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among our pupils.

Wear It Red Day - Child Heart Surgery: Our recent Wear It Red Day in support of child heart surgery was highly successful. It was heartwarming to see our pupils visibly demonstrating their support for this important cause. Your generosity and enthusiasm are truly appreciated, and I am proud of the empathy our students exhibit.

As we approach the end of this half term, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support. Together, we are creating a nurturing and thriving environment for our students to flourish. I look forward to the continued success and growth of our school community in the upcoming weeks.

Thank you once again for your unwavering commitment.

Best Regards,

Mr Ayre

Reception Parent Phonics Session - Tuesday 27th February Reception Parent Phonics Session - Tuesday 27th February

We would like to invite Reception parents to join us for a Read, Write Inc. phonics lesson on Tuesday 27th February 2024.

To aid parents with supporting their child’s reading at home, there will be an opportunity to find out more about the Read, Write Inc. phonics programme, before being invited into class to watch a live phonics lesson being taught to your child.

To facilitate this, we ask that only one adult per child attends and that the event is to be attended by adults only.

The session will begin at 8.50am until approximately 9.50am.

Kind regards

Miss Brook

EYFS Lead and Assistant Associate Headteacher
