The Jag Color Jog is coming!
This year the LMS PTO will be putting on a Jag Color Jog as our main PTO fundraiser. The Jog is a fun color run and also a fundraiser. No more selling candy and gift wrap! For $5 your student will be able to participate in our awesome outdoor COLORFUL event and also fundraise to AWESOME prizes all while helping Linkhorne Middle School! It's a win-win! Please look for the Jag Color Jog fundraising packet to come home with your student next week. Please help us help your student, our teachers and all of LMS by encouraging your student to join us at the Jag Color Jog!
Due to a change in LCS policies, we are not able to host the dance on October 1 as previously planned. That event is being re-designed as an outdoor event. More to come when a date is set!
From the Counseling Department
From Mrs. James: So, who knew it was Daughter Appreciation Day earlier this week? And, I believe, to maintain the balance in the universe, Son Appreciation Day followed right after. I am referring to posts I saw on facebook and confess that I will very likely be living out my final years in a nursing home as I did not acknowledge my children in this way this year.
All of this, however, made me think about how I DO show appreciation for my children and if they are positioned well to receive it. Consider Love languages. What do you know about them? There was a book written many years ago that helped me better understand some of the differences in my children and the ways that they receive and perceive love. While this video is longer than I would usually share (about 10 minutes), I found that not only does it explain the five love languages well but also assists us with how to identify the primary language that your child relates to the most AND includes some tips on how this can impact discipline and learning. If you want to find new ways to reach and relate to your adolescents (or other significant relationships), take a look at this video. (Note: The volume is recorded very low so be sure to turn your volume up.)
The 5 Love Languages of Children - Gary Chapman, Ross Campbell (Summary)
The FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES are identified as

Food 4 Thought Weekend Food Bags
We sent an email yesterday to make you aware of a service that will be available soon. In past years, weekend food bags have been provided by Food 4 Thought & Park View Community Mission and will once again be offered to families who may have a need for additional food stability on the weekends. In the email that was sent, we attached a permission form that must be returned in order to participate in this service. Permission forms are also available in the main office. Food bags will be sent out every Friday and will begin in the next few weeks.
Please direct any questions to Mr. Carr. carrmh@lcsedu.net
Report Cards coming soon
The final day of this nine weeks is Thursday, October 7th. Please work with your students to ensure they have submitted all missing work in each of their classes. Any “zero” that is entered into a gradebook really YANKS a grade down and has a significant impact on final grades. Additionally, consider tapping into our AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM that begins this week. Ask your student’s teachers for more information.
HONOR ROLL and SCHOLARS LIST
Students who earn a 3.0 GPA will earn the Honor Roll distinction and token charm. This can occur with all As and Bs and on some occasions can even include a C if there is an A to balance it.
Students who earn ALL As will earn the distinction and charm for Scholar’s List.
Please help your student set goals and cheer for them as they make strides for their
achievements!
Cheering for you,
Mrs. Rene James
