The Weekly Update
La Mesa Junior High --April 28, 2023
Principal's Message
Greetings Lobo Families!
Para la traducción de idiomas, haga clic en "Translate" arriba.
We are One Hart, with our goal to make Every Student...Opportunity Ready!
Today marks the end of 4th Quarter Progress Reports which means we are officially on the home stretch of the school year. Please continue to speak with your students about finishing strong by working hard and being kind! Take advantage of Tutorials and Open Library Nights for the remainder of the semester.
CAASPP Testing begins May 8 and we hope that you will help make attendance to school a priority for your family during this week. We will be having raffle drawings for students in perfect attendance during this week and hope that helps motivate our students to give their best effort.
Traffic Pattern
Please adhere to our traffic pattern for drop off and pick up. We have seen even more families drop off in the Bus Lane and Loop which causes a bottle neck and does not give our city buses and school buses easy access to drop off our students.
Speed in the Neighborhood
Please be safe in the neighborhood as we have seen cars driving above the speed limit. Please use caution as we are in a neighborhood that is filled with children and neighbors accessing their driveways. Also, please do not leave your car unattended that is blocking a driveway.
Cell Phones/Airpods
Please continue to remind your student that cell phones need to be turned off and in their backpacks while on campus. This would also help with the airpods and headphones we are seeing. If a student has their airpods in, that means their phone is on and their phone and airpods will be placed in the office for end of the day pick up. Thank you for your help with this.
There are so many great opportunities for students and parents listed in this update (including information about next school year and the opportunities available for your student to get involved on campus)
I hope you take the time to read through all of the exciting things happening at La Mesa and Golden Valley!

More information will come over the Summer, but wanted you to see the schedule and take notice of the new School dismissal times.
8th Grade Graduation
We have been receiving a few calls about 8th grade Graduation.
I wanted to let you know that our District does not hold 8th grade Graduations. This applies to all William S. Hart Junior High Schools.
We do have an 8th grade awards night where students receiving awards will be invited to attend. This invitations will be emailed home this weekend.
8th grade Awards night is scheduled for May 24.
I am sorry for the confusion on this but wanted to let you all know as we get close to the end of the school year.
La Mesa ASB
ASB is doing a fundraiser to support Gravity Water. Gravity Water is a fundraising system that spreads awareness of the Global Water Crisis. We are raising money to help fund a system to provide students and staff in a school in Vietnam to have clean water for daily drinking and hand washing. You can help us reach this goal by donating money through our website. You can scan this QR code to donate to this fundraiser. Thank you!

Thank you for all of your support!

CAASPP State Testing
Our annual state testing, CAASPP, will be May 8-12.
These are important tests that allow us to determine where our students are at. We look very closely at the data from these tests to help us plan school-wide instruction, intervention, and other supports needed to ensure all students are learning at high levels.
On an individual level, these tests help round out the picture for each student's academic progress. These results, along with grades and teacher input, allow us to know how individual students are progressing academically.
Please support your child and La Mesa by making sure students get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time and ready to go each day of testing.
* There will even be raffle prizes for students who have perfect attendance that week!
* Minimum Day on May 10 - Dismissal at 12:15pm
