SIP Day Reminder
Just a reminder that this Thursday, January 14th is a School Improvement Day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am and there will be no lunch service.
Devices
We know that after break students may be excited to bring new electronic devices to school. For example, cell phones, watches, gaming systems, etc... While these devices may have a specific purpose, we need to ensure that they are either left at home or remain in the student's backpack during the school day. These devices are not to be used during the school day at any time.
Also, please be sure to have your child(ren) bring their school-issued device home daily. This practice will help ensure that if Oak Grove has to alter in-person learning due to inclement weather, all students will have access to education remotely. Thank you for your support and please let us know if you have any questions.
Headset Opportunities
Thanks to the generosity of the OGSEF, Oak Grove will be providing headsets for all students. These would be for use during the school year and returned to the classroom teacher at the end of the school year.
There is also an option to purchase your own headset. If you choose to purchase your own headset rather than using one provided by the school, it would be yours to keep. Below are some options for purchase:

Saddle Hill Traffic
Just a reminder that if you are using Wickham Court as your afternoon pick up option, please follow the traffic guidance Mr. Duenas and Mr. Byford are providing. We want to continue to ensure that families who live on and around Wickham are able to drive through the neighborhood. Thank you for your help!

Hello Oak Grove Community,
In case you missed it last week, the DEI Committee is made up of teachers, administrators and parents within Oak Grove. This committee has evolved from the initial work of the Multicultural Committee to be more encompassing of all aspects of diversity within our Oak Grove family and now focuses on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within our school community. As we move forward with this important work, please take a moment to provide some feedback for our planning committee. Family Survey Link The survey link will close Monday, January 18th.
Thank you for your time,
The DEI Committee
Reminder for 7th & 8th Grade Families
This is a brief reminder that Elyssa’s Mission will take place on January 12th for all 8th grade students and January 19th for all 7th grade students. Elyssa’s Mission is an evidence-based suicide prevention program that has been shown to address suicide risk and depression while reducing suicide attempts.
Through the program, students learn:
● Depression is treatable, so they are encouraged to seek help.
● How to identify depression and potential suicide risk in themselves or a friend.
● ACT (Acknowledge, Care and Tell a trusted adult)
● Who students can turn to at school for help, if they need it.
If you are interested in additional information about the program or Oak Grove’s criss resource please utilize the resources below.
MindWise (Parent company of Elyssa’s Mission)
If you do not wish your child(ren) to participate in the depression and suicide intervention training, please contact Ryan Murray at 847-367-4120 ext. 2708 or murray@ogschool.org. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this program. Thank you for your support.
