Christy Hustad
Administrative Intern Fleetridge Elementary - Raytown
Congratulations to Christy Hustad as she accepts the Administrative Intern position next year at Fleetridge Elementary in the Raytown School District. Christy has been a special education teacher in Raytown for 9 years teaching at Laurel Hills and then Fleetridge Elementary. She is a part of the CPPP 14 class that just graduated earlier this month.
Christy is most excited that she gets to remain at Fleetridge and continue to work with the students and staff she has grown to love over the past 6 years. She is looking forward to working with staff and students in a different capacity. “I am also very excited to continue to learn and grow as a leader by getting to work side by side with my new principal, Stephanie Vickers.” She looks forward to implementing all the strategies and tools she learned about in the CPPP classes and put them into action in her new position. “I know I have many knowledgeable mentors, including my school mentors and my CPPP mentors, to turn to when I need advice or have questions.”
Christy says her interest in leadership was fueled by getting involved with the teacher leader program in Raytown. After that, she found herself becoming more involved through various committees and teams. She really enjoyed taking on leadership roles and decided to take it a step further by enrolling into a graduate program. She had heard great things about the CPPP so mentioned it to her husband. He emailed Dr. Russell and the rest is history. She says, “Every class I took made me more and more excited and let me know I was on the right path.”
Christy’s husband, Josh, is a CPPP graduate and works for the Raytown School District as well. He has been an assistant principal at Raytown South Middle School for the past 3 years, but he is taking on a new role next year as the Director of Facility and Operations. He is excited for his new position! Josh and Christy have three children Jaycee, Ava, and Jaxon.
The 2018-2019 school year is going to be a year of new adventures for the Hustad family!
