Principal Update
Mills Elementary School, Sept 6, 2022
Mills Families,
Today brings feelings of solidarity as we unite to support the Uvalde community on their first day back to school. Last May, I shared a letter to the Mills community outlining how our school district and campus will support any student or staff member during this difficult event. Today (and throughout the year), our counselors and district staff members are still committed to provide support for any individual in need.
Many students will not have discussed this tragedy at home and it is not for us (teachers/school staff) to share this news. However, any Mountain Lion who does come to school with questions or concerns will be supported by our teachers and counselors. Please reach out to our school counselors, Elise Edwards and Linda Whatley, for additional family resources or questions on how to navigate family conversations at home with your child.
In last week's update, I shared that September is parent conference month. Our teachers should be providing information to you on signing up for a conference slot. Whether your preference is in person or via Zoom, we hope to connect with 100% of our families!
Additionally, I am also aware of the graffiti (found on campus and in the neighborhood) reported from concerned families. We are in communication with Austin ISD police and they are aware of the situation. I have asked for additional patrol in the area. Please continue to report any unsafe or suspicious activity to the school, campus police department, and Austin PD.
Thank you for your steadfast support of our wonderful Mills community. Each of us plays an enormous role in making Mills a grrrreat place to learn and grow. #BetterTogetherAtMills
Respectfully,
Angela Frageman
