Cowboy Way Team: Donation Request
The Cowboy Way helps encourage every student to be SAFE, HONORABLE, and SENSIBLE.
SHS has created policies and procedures to foster a positive, productive, and safe environment for students to thrive.
100% of donations will go to the students.
Any donations can be dropped off in the main office to be delivered to us. Students can also drop off any donations in the Wellness Center at any time. Thank you for your continuous support. Please include your name and your students name so we can be sure to send a thank you note.
CTE Student Of The Quarter
Rorin Glenn, Dental Careers Class, SHS
Rorin was nominated by Ms. Ochinang for going above and beyond. He is on-task at all times, with a willingness to help others, even when it is not asked of him. It is also important to note that Rorin is always "ready to work." His efforts and educational knowledge show his commitment to his ROP class. Lastly, Rorin is a genuinely nice young man. For these reasons, he was nominated for this prestigious award.

SHS FFA Students Shine at the Fair
Congratulations to the Salinas FFA Livestock Team on their great success at the Monterey County Fair. They also showed their livestock in the fair at Bolado Park at the end of September. Congratulations to Jack Lindley for his FFA Champion Market Swine, Cadee Guzman for winning FFA Champion Swine Showman, and Madi Stagner for earning Champion Breeding Gilt distinction.
Unity Day 10/18
In recognition of Anti-Bullying Month, ASB hosted a class competition. First 3 Classes to all wear orange and call Mr. Dover, got donuts delivered.
Shout out to Mrs. Zenk/Ms. Bravo, Mr. Garcia and Ms. Vracar's period 2 classes for all winning.
Wellness Center Hosts: Paint a Haunted Birdhouse
The Wellness Center staff hosted a lunch time activity where students could come paint a haunted bird house. Thank you to the students who came and made this a fun, exciting event.
Pumpkin Painting with Mrs. Martinez's Class
Mrs. Martinez's 2nd and 6th period classes learned about the Halloween Traditions and painted pumpkins.
Homecoming 2023-2024
Thank you to everyone who was involved in all of the homecoming activities. Everything turned out amazing. Here are some pictures and videos from both the homecoming rally and the parade.
Suicide Prevention Video from SHS Staff
The month of September is Suicide awareness month. Some of our staff came together to talk about their personal connection to the subject matter in a video that was shared with teachers for an optional viewing in one of their classes. This video is very inspiring but please note a trigger warning was added to the beginning of the video.

Ms. Killough - To the ASL Club Student Cabinet - Leah Vincelet, Adi Espinoza, Peyton Fouts, & Gigi Tortorelli - Thank for all the planning, facilitating, and teaching that you have been doing for the ASL Club this year! Lots of students are benefiting from your positive actions.

Gabriela H. - Mr. Montenegro because when I had classes with him he explained very well and helped me and even now that I don't have him in any class he continues to help me and advise me to achieve my school goals and something that taught me is not to give up.

Austin B. - Mrs. Rachel Dalton is the best teacher I have ever had, she is so caring and loves to help kids thrive and learn real life skills, In my opinion this isn't taught enough. Mrs. Dalton isn't a teacher but a idol for the students of Salinas High.

Mrs. Oneto to Mrs. Thomas - shout out to Mary K Thomas for creating a classroom environment that is inclusive to all students to create meaningful relationships.
Mr. Kile to Mrs. Kile - for ideas on how to integrate writing supports across disciplines (and because she's awesome).
Ms. Bowling to Mr. Jauregui - he is teaching a Hartnell class during x period and the students report that they are enjoying his class and getting a lot out of it. Thanks for getting up early to help our students!
Ms. Ibarra - Thank you to those staff members who take the time to complete questionnaires, provide valuable feedback about the student, and are willing to release the student for testing.
Mr. Zenk - Victor, Adan, Taylor, and Noah. Keep this place looking like a palace. Thank you!
Mr. Perry - Amy Perry - Amy spends many hours here and at home responding to and supporting her students. She is the career professional always supporting and making her kiddos feel valued and prepared.
Ms. White - I would like to thank Miranda Trayford for leading the teachers in school spirit. The dance was a big hit at the rally.
Ms. White - Big thanks to Grace for always smiling and remaining calm, even though there are often sub issues. It is a great comfort to know that if there is an emergency, that a sub can be found.
Ms. Cardozo - Orlando Jauregui, always on time for his x period class and great with he students.
Ms. Bowling - Ms. Pena is responsible for organizing and running our winter intersession.
Ms. Killough - Sarah Reitmeyer - Thank you for helping me to brainstorm fresh ideas for ASL classes. Your support, as a coworker and as a kind friend, continues to be invaluable.
Mr. Montenegro - Kudos to Mrs. Juanita Martinez for her GoBe (Going Beyond) efforts to develop the full potential of her ELL students and for creating an environment of enthusiasm for learning Math1! Mrs. Martinez is a true gift to her students.
