The Cowboy Way helps encourage every student to be SAFE, HONORABLE, and SENSIBLE.

SHS has created policies and procedures to foster a positive, productive, and safe environment for students to thrive.

100% of donations will go to the students.

Any donations can be dropped off in the main office to be delivered to us. Students can also drop off any donations in the Wellness Center at any time. Thank you for your continuous support. Please include your name and your students name so we can be sure to send a thank you note.

Rorin was nominated by Ms. Ochinang for going above and beyond. He is on-task at all times, with a willingness to help others, even when it is not asked of him. It is also important to note that Rorin is always "ready to work." His efforts and educational knowledge show his commitment to his ROP class. Lastly, Rorin is a genuinely nice young man. For these reasons, he was nominated for this prestigious award.

Congratulations to the Salinas FFA Livestock Team on their great success at the Monterey County Fair. They also showed their livestock in the fair at Bolado Park at the end of September. Congratulations to Jack Lindley for his FFA Champion Market Swine, Cadee Guzman for winning FFA Champion Swine Showman, and Madi Stagner for earning Champion Breeding Gilt distinction.

In recognition of Anti-Bullying Month, ASB hosted a class competition. First 3 Classes to all wear orange and call Mr. Dover, got donuts delivered.

Shout out to Mrs. Zenk/Ms. Bravo, Mr. Garcia and Ms. Vracar's period 2 classes for all winning.

The Wellness Center staff hosted a lunch time activity where students could come paint a haunted bird house. Thank you to the students who came and made this a fun, exciting event.

Mrs. Martinez's 2nd and 6th period classes learned about the Halloween Traditions and painted pumpkins.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in all of the homecoming activities. Everything turned out amazing. Here are some pictures and videos from both the homecoming rally and the parade.

The month of September is Suicide awareness month. Some of our staff came together to talk about their personal connection to the subject matter in a video that was shared with teachers for an optional viewing in one of their classes. This video is very inspiring but please note a trigger warning was added to the beginning of the video.

Ms. Hermann - Uriel Martinez-Jimenez. Thank you for being such an awesome TA! You help lessen my work load, and for that I am very grateful. It has been a pleasure watching you grow from a freshman into such a wonderful young man and senior. Thanks for being AWESOME!!!

Ms. Hermann - Amerie Virgen, thank you for always being such a positive young lady. You are always with a smile and a thoughtful thing to say. Your kindness is noticed. Thanks for making my day so often. Keep being wonderful!

Mr. Dover - Congratulations to all of the class officers on a well planned and fun Homecoming for everyone!

Ms. Killough - To the ASL Club Student Cabinet - Leah Vincelet, Adi Espinoza, Peyton Fouts, & Gigi Tortorelli - Thank for all the planning, facilitating, and teaching that you have been doing for the ASL Club this year! Lots of students are benefiting from your positive actions.

Ms. Hutchinson & Ms. Borrelli - Dylan Domingos from our AP Language and Composition class. Dylan is bright and uplifting in class everyday. She is responsible with her work and makes great contributions to class.

Ms. Moran - I would like to give a shoutout to my brother Mikey Moran for being an awesome senior student athlete, and the best brother!

Ethan A. - I want to give a shoutout to Mr. Boyd for being a great co-teacher and he did an amazing job subbing for our class!

Jack U. - Football Coach Zenk in room 118. He teaches really well and makes math something that I want to learn. He's also very good at explaining his answers and how he got them.

Natalie A. - Scott Brearton is a amazing outstanding kind hearted person that is doing great things for his students to get we’re they need to be and reach there goals to succeed!

Miguel B. - Mr. Sullivan for making me look at school in a different way.

Gabriela H. - Mr. Montenegro because when I had classes with him he explained very well and helped me and even now that I don't have him in any class he continues to help me and advise me to achieve my school goals and something that taught me is not to give up.

Eliana G. - Mrs. Oneto, Thank you for always helping Cultural Awareness club be the best that we can be. Thank you for always sticking by me whenever I am going through something or just need help.

Austin B. - Mrs. Rachel Dalton is the best teacher I have ever had, she is so caring and loves to help kids thrive and learn real life skills, In my opinion this isn't taught enough. Mrs. Dalton isn't a teacher but a idol for the students of Salinas High.

Maria P. - Mr. Montenegro deserves this shout out because he always helping and encouraging his students, his classroom is a safe place for anyone hell make you feel welcomed.

Parker R. - Micah Cabaccang because he's is always positive, supportive, uplifting, takes the time to ensure that his students dont fall behind, and is very encouraging and prideful in the work his students produce which only motivates is more to get better and better.

Giada T. - Ms. Tan She works so hard to produce the schools musical and play!

Jose L. - Mr Garcia for being the best art teacher and being so cool

Julianna R. - Mrs. H. Stewart because she is very kind, caring, and I feel like I can come to her if I have a problem.

Ivan G. - Suzie Andrade, because they're one of the best helpers here at the school and she gets a long with everyone..I think?

Isaac A - Shout out to Mr.Terry for being the best teacher at Salinas High, he's the goat, the best, the ruler, the top G, he's the Big Drop, he's Him...

Phoebe L. - Mr. Mandon because he gives us peanut butter pretzels and coconut straws from Trader Joes.

Mrs. Oneto to Mrs. Thomas - shout out to Mary K Thomas for creating a classroom environment that is inclusive to all students to create meaningful relationships.

Mr. Kile to Mrs. Kile - for ideas on how to integrate writing supports across disciplines (and because she's awesome).

Ms. Bowling to Mr. Jauregui - he is teaching a Hartnell class during x period and the students report that they are enjoying his class and getting a lot out of it. Thanks for getting up early to help our students!

Ms. Ibarra - Thank you to those staff members who take the time to complete questionnaires, provide valuable feedback about the student, and are willing to release the student for testing.

Mr. Zenk - Victor, Adan, Taylor, and Noah. Keep this place looking like a palace. Thank you!

Mr. Perry - Amy Perry - Amy spends many hours here and at home responding to and supporting her students. She is the career professional always supporting and making her kiddos feel valued and prepared.

Ms. White - I would like to thank Miranda Trayford for leading the teachers in school spirit. The dance was a big hit at the rally.

Ms. White - Big thanks to Grace for always smiling and remaining calm, even though there are often sub issues. It is a great comfort to know that if there is an emergency, that a sub can be found.

Ms. Cardozo - Orlando Jauregui, always on time for his x period class and great with he students.

Ms. Bowling - Ms. Pena is responsible for organizing and running our winter intersession.

Ms. Killough - Sarah Reitmeyer - Thank you for helping me to brainstorm fresh ideas for ASL classes. Your support, as a coworker and as a kind friend, continues to be invaluable.

Mr. Montenegro - Kudos to Mrs. Juanita Martinez for her GoBe (Going Beyond) efforts to develop the full potential of her ELL students and for creating an environment of enthusiasm for learning Math1! Mrs. Martinez is a true gift to her students.

Ms. J. Martinez - Shout out to Tristen Jones-Fuerbringer for being an awesome Department Chair. Thank you for all you are doing! - Math Department

Ms. Reyna - Staff Jennifer McCord has been extremely supportive with helping me as a new teacher. I appreciate all the help and advice she has given me.

Mr. Montenegro - A shout out to all Global Languages Department Teachers at SHS for their dedication, commitment and hard work and for helping their students develop their second language skills as well as new insights into other cultures.

Mrs. Oneto - Christa Kile for always being a beacon of light for her students and colleagues.
