EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION
Effective and Efficient Teaching
2 Day Training: 12-7-17 & 1-11-18
OVERVIEW
The quality of TEACHING is the single most important factor in our educational system (William, 2012).
Explicit Instruction is a systematic instructional approach that includes a set of delivery and design procedures derived from effective schools research. This two day training is designed for PreK-12 teachers, new or experienced, who are interested in enhancing their current instructional practices for increasing student engagement and learning.
Day 1 will focus on the foundations of explicit instruction and active student engagement, reviewing practical strategies for eliciting student responses, use of partners, passage reading procedures and technology tools for increasing student engagement. Day 2 will focus on designing lessons for teaching skills and strategies for providing immediate feedback to students.
Teachers will be given time to apply new learning through Make & Take time at each session. Each district or educator who participates in training will receive a copy of the book, Explicit Instruction by Anita Archer & Charles Hughes.
TRAINERS: Kristen Peterson, Nicole Sheltrow, Tricia Miilu, Karen Maki & Gaby Eyzaguirre
