LPES Virtual Backpack #11
October 25, 2024
From The Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the weather is getting chillier, please make sure to send your child to school with a jacket or sweatshirt each day. To avoid mix-ups, we kindly ask that you label all outerwear with your child’s name. Our lost and found is growing daily, so if your child is missing any items, please remind them to check there.
We’re also very excited for our Trunk or Treat event tonight! We can’t wait to see everyone there and share in the fun.
When students attend school consistently, they stay engaged in their learning, build strong routines, and are less likely to fall behind academically. Planning vacations during scheduled breaks ensures they don’t miss important lessons and activities.
Thank you for your continued support! We are so proud of our students and the wonderful progress they’re making each day. Together, we are fostering a positive school environment where every child can succeed.
Warm regards,
Emily Varghese
Principal
Attendance
If your student is going to be absent for any reason, please make sure to leave a detailed message on our attendance line. Direct Attendance Line: 847-532-6620. Please use this line when calling in an absence during the morning hours as the school office can be rather busy.
If you would like to send us an email to let us know why your student or students will be absent, you can also use this email: attendance.lpes@d300.org.
If your student is absent for an appointment, please bring in the note from the medical office in order to have the absence excused. Otherwise, it goes in as an unexcused absence. Notes can be emailed to the attendance email as well. Thank you!
Just a reminder for anyone who comes to pick up a student through the school office, please be prepared to show a picture ID. While we try to remember everyone, this is still required for everyone's safety.

Please make sure to pull all the way forward in the kiss and go line in the morning in order to keep the line moving. Thank you!
Please be kind and allow families who are trying to turn left into the student drop off lot into the line as this can impact traffic coming from both directions if they get stuck waiting to turn in. Thank you!

Calling all Veterans!
Veterans day is around the corner and we want to celebrate the men and women that serve! We want to create a school that learns about your service and values the sacrifice you make each day for our country. Please fill out this form to help us honor veterans! We are looking for veterans to come in and speak to different grade levels throughout the day on November 11th, 2024. If your family knows a veteran personally, you can fill this form out for them or forward it on to them.
We are creating a Wall of Honor of all our friends and family members who are veterans. Please send pictures to kathleen.boscarino@d300.org with their name, branch, title, and any other details of their service. I saved all the submissions from last year! If you sent in your veteran last year, we will put them back up. If you are unsure, just send me a message and I will check. Thank you for your support!
Stay tuned for more details to celebrate Veterans Day coming up November 11-15th!
