September Newsletter 2023
From the Principal
Welcome Back Dreamers of Eastside!
We’re several days into the school year and things are going well so far. It certainly is a blessing to have the privilege of working with wonderful students, families, and professionals in our Eastside community.
There are a few items I want to bring your attention to. First, our PTK meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month. The next meeting is Thursday, September 7th, at 3:30 in the school library. We encourage parents to attend and get involved in the great things our PTK does throughout the year. Secondly, we have a community event coming up. On Thursday, September 28th from 6 to 8 PM at Beck Lake, Eastside will be hosting a Color Run. Be on the lookout for more information. This is an event to help raise money for the Cheryl Barrus Scholarship fund. Finally, please be sure that you have downloaded the Class Dojo app, and connect to your child’s classroom. This is a common platform that all of our teachers use to communicate with families, as well as post updates on what is happening in class.
We're excited to have a lot of new people joining our Eastside team this year. Jessica Whitehead will be in our office. Garret Leach will be serving Eastside as the behavior teacher. Our para team will be joined by Cassie Brost, Nichole Clark, and Ben Galagan. Stefani Mitchell and Katherine Spletzer will also join our SPED team. Katherine will serve as the K-2 resource teacher and Stefani will serve as our SPED/behavior teacher. We're also glad to have Sami Cavill join our 3rd grade teaching team this year! As you see these new faces be sure to give them a warm welcome.
We look forward to partnering with our families to ensure all of our students meet their academic and social goals. Please let us know if you have questions as we move forward.
Learn Together, SOAR Together, the Key is Me.

A note from the Nurse
Dear Parents ~
On Thursday, September 7th, after school pictures are taken, students will undergo hearing and vision screenings with our speech language pathologists and nursing staff.
If your student wears glasses or contacts, please make sure they have them. If your student does not pass any part of the vision screening, you will be contacted by me and you will also receive a letter with your students’ results and recommendations via USPS. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your student’s vision or hearing screening.
