Tis' the Season... To Celebrate!
Let's end 2023 in style, WMS Demons. We will have special dress up days on December 18, 19, and 20th. See below for the schedule.
From the Office of Mrs. Kennedy
In November, WMS was named a Purple School Star Awardee by Montana's Office of Public Instruction. Washington Middle School was awarded the 2023 Purple Star School. The Purple Star Award distinguishes Montana schools and individual champions who have displayed extraordinary commitment to supporting our military students and their families. To qualify as a Purple Star School, each school must meet specific designation criteria and be given support through the state and national Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission to continue the strong support of our military-connected students and families.
WMS is working to create a Glendive listing of resources for our military-connected families. Mrs. Lighter, our WMS Administrative Assistant, has volunteered to be our MIC3 and Purple Star School liaison. If you are aware of a community organization or resource that would be wonderful for us note in our resource, please email Mrs. Lighter, lightera@glendiveschools.org.
We are extremely grateful for this award and the opportunity to support our WMS community in various ways.
With gratitude,
Katy Kennedy
Principal
Washington Middle School

WMS First Trivia Night was a GREAT Success!
It was wonderful to see so many WMS students with smiles on their faces and facts in their brains for WMS's first Trivia Night!
The evening started with chili, cinnamon rolls, and Fritos for those who were ready to enjoy dinner. Students socialized and strategized. Then, Mr. Hopfauf began the main event of the evening. Our trivia teams, a combination of 5th-8th-graders, answered questions from 5 different topics in 5 rounds. The questions ranged from "What is the name of the hill with the lighted cross in Glendive?" to "Who Who was Luke Skwalker's mentor?" I think one of the biggest stumpers was when "blockbuster" was used in a question. They were unsure what a "blockbuster" was. The struggle was real! The competition was fierce! All students were all in.
There were so many people who made this event possible. Without each and every individual, we wouldn't have been able to have such a wonderful evening of food, fun, facts and friends! Thank you to the WMS Community for showing that together we are stronger!
