From the desk of Mrs. Humphries
Can you believe that we have been in school for 98 days! We have come a long way from the start of the school year. I always get excited about the new year because it is a fresh start.
As we begin a new semester I would like to wish a very Happy New Year to our Gold Academy Family! I trust you had a wonderful winter break with family and friends.
As we begin this new year, 2023, it is always a great time for looking back to the past, but more importantly, looking forward to the coming year. It is a time to reflect on the changes we want, or need, to make and resolve to follow through on those changes. Mrs. Klein and I have been talking to all students about setting both academic and behavior goals for themselves. So as we begin 2023, I want to assure everyone that the high expectations in academics are set from the beginning of the year as we begin the second semester.
We will be celebrating our students who made Honor Roll on January 23rd during their social emotional learning time. We also celebrated our students today who made growth on their NWEA assessment in December (growth of 15 points or more). Those students received a special treat during lunch.
During social emotional learning this month, we are focusing on making sure that we include others, being kind and being respectful to each other, our teachers and our environment. We are also focusing on GOLD Pride on the bus (sitting in his or her seat, using an inside voice level, using appropriate language, and keeping hands and feet to him or herself). Please discuss these bus expectations with your child.

Weather - It's cold outside!
We have had many beautiful days, but our weather is changing. We will closely monitor temperature, wind chill and other aspects of the weather to determine inside or outside recesses. We are asking for your help in sending your student to school with plenty of warm clothes appropriate for outside time.
Hello Car Rider families
Thank you so much for your patience in line and for following our safety procedures! Because of you, our line runs smoothly and our students get in and out of cars safely. If you do not have a car number, please Parent Square, email, or call Mrs. Klein and I will assign you a number. Just a reminder, if you arrive at school at 7:40 or after, you will need to drop off your child at the front door (students can not be dropped off in the front before 7:40 a.m.) Please do not pull behind the buses during student arrival. Lastly, we appreciate the smiles you and your children bring each and every day and we look forward to a great second semester!!
