Sunset Ridge Weekly Update

Wednesday, May 4th will be Open House for our 4th and 5th graders and Ms. Tsai's 3rd grade class. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Our teachers and staff have done an amazing job supporting children be in school in a safe and nurturing environment. There have been so many challenges this year and our staff deserves to feel everyone's appreciation. This week is the week to show them you care! The PTO has arranged some fun things your child can do to show their love. Tuesday- Draw a portrait of your teacher, Wednesday- Get Creative- make a coupon for a favor, bring your teacher's favorite treat or draw something they love, Thursday- Write a poem for you teachers, Friday- Make a card for your teacher.

The Pacifica Education Foundation is also encouraging families to purchase a egift card for your teacher or yourself that will support local Pacifica shops. It's a win-win. Nuestros maestros y personal han hecho un trabajo increíble para ayudar a los niños a estar en la escuela en un ambiente seguro y enriquecedor. Join us on Saturday, May 7 for a screening of Sing 2. Tickets are available at Beach Break Entertainment’s website (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0549A8AF28A5FB6-sing). Choose the option “buy a bingo card”. One bingo card gets one car admission to the show.

A portion of the proceeds - and any donations received as part of the round up option - will go directly to our PTO fund.

Before the show, there will be a special screening of an animated short from a local artist. Several vendors in the Linda Mar shopping center are also offering deals for ticket holders (check your tickets for details).

The next meeting for the 5th grade end of year events is on May 12th at 7pm. We will also have a meeting on May 26th and June 2nd. We need support with getting everything done. We are asking 4th grade families to cover the promotion activities on June 9th so that the 5th grade families can enjoy the day.

PAWS stands for Problem Solver, Always Kind, Willing to Try, and Staying Safe. Kids that are caught doing one of these activities are awarded a PAWS Point. Students get a postcard delivered to their home thanking them for doing a great job. We also have a tower that we fill up with the PAWS Point tickets and when it gets filled up, the entire school will celebrate for everyone's hard work. This week's winners are:

This award is given to students who have shown outstanding participation in their classes. They engage in learning by asking questions being an active participant in conversations and activities in a positive way. Children can only be nominated for this award by their classroom teacher. Winners are given a certificate and a lollipop that is personally delivered to their home. This week’s winners are:
