Feb 8 Family International Night and Book Fair
Dear Spring Run families,
On February 8th, 2024 Spring Run Elementary will be hosting our 2nd International Night since 2019! We're so excited to be able to bring this back and pair it with our Scholastic Book Fair. International Night/Book Fair will run from 6PM to 8PM on 2/8/24
Students and their families will be able to pick up a "passport" and travel to different "countries" in the cafeteria to learn about each country's traditions, history, and cuisine. We would love to have the diversity of cultures and backgrounds at Spring Run represented!
Some ideas for each country:
- Pictures, posters, artifacts, flags to decorate the table
- Coloring or activity pages
- Traditional food to taste on the go (think like Costco samples)
- A recipe to share (we can make copies if you would like handouts)
- Anything else you'd like!
If you are interested in signing up to host a country, please fill out this interest form by February 6th
Sign up here for a performance or table https://bit.ly/SRESInternationalNightFeb8
We are also looking for groups or individuals to share any performances of music or dancing from your culture in our gym during the evening.

Learn about school districtʼs budget during January and February meetings
Budget season for Chesterfield County Public Schools begins Jan. 23 when Superintendent Mervin B. Daugherty presents his budget proposal to the Chesterfield County School Board. Public meetings throughout January and February offer opportunities to learn about the FY 2025 budget and speak up about priorities:
A budget town hall will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at Thomas Dale High (3626 W. Hundred Road), which is inthe Bermuda District.
The School Board will hold a second work session on the budget at 4 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Public Meeting Room.
A budget town hall will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at Midlothian Middle (13501 Midlothian Turnpike), which is in the Midlothian District.
On Feb. 13 in the Public Meeting Room, the School Board will hold a third work session on the budget at 4 p.m., then will hold a public hearing on the budget at the start of a 6:30 p.m. business meeting.
The School Board will meet to adopt the budget at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Public Meeting Room.
Budget work sessions and public hearings will be livestreamed at http://chesterfieldschoolsva.swagit.com/live/ and shown on Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 28. Details about the budget will be posted on oneccps.org.
New Parent Library Feature
Chesterfield County Public Schools continues to be at the forefront of ensuring that parents and guardians have transparency about school library books.
The district recently added a feature to the online catalog for school libraries that offers another avenue for families to be involved in what their children read. Starting now, parents can create a list of books that their student will not be allowed to check out. (This new feature is in addition to existing opportunities for parents that provide online access to their student’s school library accounts and the ability to opt in to receive an email when their student checks out a book.)
Follow these steps to take advantage of this new method of overseeing what your child can check out from the school library:
Look up your public access catalog login ID by going to ParentVUE using a web browser on a computer or mobile device (not using the mobile app). In ParentVUE, go to My Account to find Adult ID#. (Contact your school if you need help accessing your ParentVUE account.) Your public access catalog login ID is your ParentVUE adult ID number with G added to the front. For example, if your ParentVUE adult ID number is 123456, then G123456 is your public access catalog ID.
Select your child’s campus on the school system’s library catalog page.
Click My Account on the left side of the screen.
You will be prompted for a library card number and PIN. Your library card number is your ParentVUE ID number with G added to the front. Your PIN is the last four digits of your ParentVUE ID number.
Add books you do not want your student to be able to check out to a prohibited resource list. This document provides details about how to build a prohibited resource list for your student.
CCPS Parent Resource Topics

Families can reserve free seats and learn more at bit.ly/3HAUPle.
