Shout Out!

Thank you Ms. Becky and Ms. Macie for an awesome job this week. They managed to help us successfully conduct a fire drill (smokey), a tornado drill (windy), and enrolled a new students a long with the many other jobs they do on a daily basis in the front office.

ISS procedures

Starting Monday, we will have new procedures for ISS. In the morning, all students assigned to ISS for that day will sit at a designated table in the cafeteria. They will be allowed to eat breakfast and participate in the morning assembly. After the assembly the students will remain in the cafeteria at the designate table until they are escorted to the ISS room. The students will not be allowed to go to their classroom in the morning to get materials, backpacks, or assignments. All work must be given to Ms. Monaghan the day prior to the student attending ISS. Ms. Monaghan will return the students work at the end of the day to the teachers mail box for grading.

Please make sure that you are sending enough work to keep the student engaged for the entire time they are in ISS. Be mindful that students in ISS are not receiving the hands on instruction or lecture like that of your students in the classroom. They also are not transitioning, going to recess, or electives so that time must be occupied with course work as well. Arts teachers are also expected to provide work for students to help keep them involved and current on topics in their classroom as well.

In the afternoon, students will remain in ISS until they are released for either bus or car rider lines. Then they will join their respective grade level and wait for transportation home.

Mr. McDonald will send grade level and elective teachers an email with the dates and reason for a student assigned to ISS. If you have submitted a category II form and have not heard from the office about a possible consequence, please call and ask. Mr. McDonald does a very good job investigating and responding to your concerns but sometimes things need a little time.

Will Sub

If you are going to be out you must contact WillSub even if a sub is not required. Any reason other than personal illness requires approval from the principal before a sub will be booked. If you are planning to use a personal day then you must put in the request at least 24 hours in advance. Please make requests as early as possible in order to get the sub you want. To enter a sub request on line go to: www.willsub.com or phone 1-877-945-5782. You are always responsible for requesting your own sub or turning in your absence. If you are planning to be out for half a day, then the time is 7:45-11:45 for the morning and 11:45-3:45 for the afternoon. Please also notify me by email, text or phone if you are going to be absent.

Event Information

No deliveries (balloons and flowers etc.) will be allowed for students on this day. Grade levels will set the times of their parties and then email me. Make sure you are being sensitive to the beliefs of the students who choose not to take part in parties or religious celebrations. Make sure you find a way to include them and keep their parents informed on the dates and plans so they can make an educated decision about their child.
