Homework
Wagner Middle School is guided by our philosophy of competency-based learning for academic, character, and organizational knowledge and skills. Students are assigned homework on a regular basis. These assignments provide them with grade and content-appropriate opportunities to expand their understanding of the material. Students experience more success in their content classes when they complete homework assignments regularly. Additionally, all students are expected to read for 45 minutes per night, which may be their book club book when applicable, an independent reading book of their choice, or a combination.
For some homework assignments, ratings will be entered into JumpRope for the applicable Standards-Based Outcome(s).
Some Assessment Opportunities, such as projects or longer writing pieces, are designed to be completed partly in class and partly at home. Ratings for these Assessment Opportunities will be entered in JumpRope.
It is the responsibility of the student and family to check on missing work on a regular basis in JumpRope or reach out to the teachers for updates. Students that are absent should check Google Classroom and check with teachers to recover missed work.

Donations
As we approach the cold and flu season, we need your assistance. To ensure a safe and healthy environment, we’re asking for donations of tissues, disinfecting wipes, paper towels, and hand sanitizer. Your contributions make a big difference. Donations can be dropped off at the school. We thank you in advance for your support.
A Few Words from the Parents' Association
Parents' Association General Meeting
Friday, October 20th 9:00am
We had a great turnout at our first PA meeting on September 22nd! Please join us at our next virtual meeting on Friday, October 20th at 9am when we’ll be holding elections for 3 Member at Large Executive Board positions for incoming parents/guardians, and 1 position for an incoming parent/guardian to join the SLT (School Leadership Team). Both the Member at Large and SLT roles are great opportunities to get involved in different aspects of Wagner. More information coming soon!
In the meantime, please contact PA co-Presidents Elle Erickson and Val Marsden Fitzhugh at wagner167pa@mail.wagner167.org if you have any questions or would like to nominate yourself for a position.
Scholastic Book Fair
October 16th - 20th
Our fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming up soon! Choosing books empowers students and inspires them to become stronger and prouder readers. As always, every purchase earns rewards that will support their school. Keep an eye out for more information about the fair and how students can participate!
Popcorn Mania
A very special thanks to our amazing fundraising team for popping it out of the park! Our popcorn fundraiser generated over $5000 in sales, half of which goes directly to benefiting the Wagner school community. We appreciate everyone’s support in making this such a success!
Interested in Volunteering?
The PA always appreciates volunteers. If you’re interested in partnering with other parents and guardians to help out the school (and have fun while doing so!), please email our PA Co-Presidents Elle Erickson and Val Marsden Fitzhugh at wagner167pa@mail.wagner167.org, or fill out this Google Form. We look forward to hearing from you!
