Fulton County has announced that December 6 will be a remote learning day. FAST will, however, have a regular school day as we are unaffected by the runoff election. We will have regular bus service that day.

Join us on December 1 for the Tech Fair in the Innovation Hall at FAST! Parents are invited to attend between 10-11am. More than 20 students’ submissions will be on display. This is not only an opportunity for students and parents to see these projects, but our judges will also be able to offer feedback for students prior to the Fulton County competition on December 10. Project categories include Video Production, Internet Application, Animation and so much more. We can’t wait to see what these students have come up with.

Roswell High School will be holding a meeting for all rising 9th grade prospective families on Wednesday, December 7 from 6-8pm. Representatives from administration, counseling, and staff will be on hand to provide information to help ensure a successful transition to high school for your student. This event is in lieu of the event that is typically held in January.

Congratulations to our girls' volleyball team for a great season! While they were not able to pull off a win, they played with heart and determination, and they learned a lot. We can't wait to see what they can do next year. Shout out to Coach Moore and Ms. Edwards for leading them through the season.

Basketball season has arrived! All 7th and 8th grade boys and girls who are interested in joining the team are welcome to begin tryouts on November 29th at FAST. All participants will need to complete the attached documents, and players that make the team will pay dues of $150. For any additional information, parents or students can reach out to Mr. Moore directly.

The tryout schedule is as follows:

11/29-12/1, and 12/5-12/7. A full schedule will be released at a later date.

Mr. Hendry is planning a holiday music performance for students in grades K-5. Parents will be invited to come see their students perform live in the Innovation Hall at FAST on Thursday, Dec. 8. Please keep an eye out for more details.

After winter break, our middle school students will no longer be permitted to bring their laptops home from school. We have found that students often forget to charge their device or simply forget their device at home. Unfortunately, we do not have spare devices to loan students who do not remember their device. The result is that students are missing instructional time in classes like coding. Students will be required to return their devices to the charging cart in their classroom at the end of each day beginning in January. Until that time, please be sure that they are charging their devices overnight and bringing them to school each day.

The next Parent University with Ms. Miller will be held on January 19, 2023. Mark your calendar now. Is there a topic you would like to learn more about? Let us know, it could be the topic of a future meeting.

If you haven't heard, the FAST library is open! Students in elementary grades have all had a visit to the library to hear the rules and check out a book. This would not have happened without the work of some amazing volunteers led by FAST Family PTO Co-President, Courtney Lee. Ms. Lee has spent countless hours logging and scanning books to get the library operational. She has greeted each class of students as they had their first visit to the library and read stories to the youngest students. During this season of gratitude, we would be remiss if we did not recognize how grateful we are for all of the work that went into reopening the library.

Tours for prospective FAST families have begun! If you know of anyone considering applying or who might be interested, please let them know they can schedule a tour today from our website. Applications for the 2023-24 school year open on January 1.

As a reminder, students are not permitted to use cell phones at all during the day. This is a policy change from last year and applies to all students (including all middle schoolers). If a student has a cell phone with them at school, it should be in their backpack or locker. Additionally, they should not have bluetooth headphones in during the school day. Students who are seen with a phone will have the phone confiscated and returned at the end of the day. Multiple offenses will require a parent to retrieve their phone. We appreciate your support with this policy.

The weather has been a little unpredictable these days which has left a lot of jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, and other items in the lost and found. Please stop by to check for missing items and be sure that you are only taking your own child's items. If you or your student has accidentally brought home someone else's jacket, please bring it back because they are probably looking for it.

Cold and flu season is upon us already and we are seeing a lot of sick students and staff. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home to avoid spreading germs to others. Do not medicate your child for fever before sending them to school. If they are running a fever, they should stay home until they have been fever free without medication for 24 hours.

All students are expected to be in uniform every day with the exception of approved out of uniform days. Please note that the only hoodies permitted are FAST hoodies for middle schoolers only. Students should not be wearing any other sweatshirts, hoodies or other outerwear inside. If they tend to be cold in class, they can wear a FAST fleece or layer long sleeve shirt in approved colors under their uniform shirt. We appreciate our parents supporting this by ensuring your students are dressed appropriately when you drop them off for school.

Now that the temperatures are dropping, please be sure that your student is dressed appropriately for the weather. Students are outside every day for recess and/or PE unless it is below freezing or raining.

The Parent Classroom Volunteer Program is ready to move forward! We will be starting the program with lunch/recess coverage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but may expand depending on your volunuteer availability.

Parent volunteers will be required to complete a BeenVerified background check, attend a brief training session, as well as review a set of classroom guidelines and expectations. Please be aware you may not be placed in your own student’s classroom.

Time slots are approx. 30 mins long between 10:30am - 12:30pm. Perfect for a quick break from your regular work day!
