Avilla Elementary Family Newsletter
August 2020
Back to School
I would like to thank all of you for a wonderful start to a very different kind of school year. Students are doing pretty well with all of our health and safety protocols in place and we have felt very supported by you, our Avilla Families. Our entire staff thanks you for this support.
As we move through the school year I want you to know that you can reach out to me with any questions, concerns, and positive feedback. The highlight of my day is any time that a parent sends me a message about something positive that has happened to their child at school. Of course you may have a concern that you would like to discuss. I encourage you to ask about any concern quickly, as some problems don't just take care of themselves over time. I want to be a resource for all of you and look forward to serving you as principal at Avilla.
You will be receiving a newsletter each month. Newsletters include important dates and a few fun items along with reminders to you. If you have any ideas for what you'd like to see in this newsletter I'd love to hear them. Thank you again for a nice start to this school year.
Sincerely,
Jeff Harper
Principal

Arrival and Dismissal Car Line
- Arriving early and waiting will most likely take more of your time than showing up closer to our doors open and dismissal time. We need everyone to show up closer to our advertised times in order to lessen traffic on streets close to the school.
- Preschool parents should be the only people in our car line before 2:30. Our preschool parents pick up around 2:10 and have been blocked by people waiting for our 2:45 dismissal. Please help us by keeping the car line open for preschool pickup. These students need the most help with car pickup and a clear line really helps.
- Please do not park your car and walk across the street to greet your child. When you remain in your car it helps us to worry less about pedestrians and takes less time to get students to where they need to be.

Bus Safety
This month, students are reviewing bus safety procedures. Students should always be seated while the bus is in motion. In order to keep devices safe, students should keep their backpacks on their laps. We are continually working to help keep everyone safe at our school! Thanks for reiterating these important bus safety rules with your child.
