Education Resources
Education Resources Portal
The Education Resources Portal provides free resources to support the children in your migratory families. In addition to the reading and writing mini-lessons, tip sheets, and videos, check out the newly-added math resources for grades kindergarten through second grade. The math resources for grades K-2 align with the Texas math standards (TEKS) and are intended for parents to use with their children at home. This vertical alignment document lists all of the TEKS that are covered in the mini-lessons. These can be very helpful for children currently in grades K-2, and also for children in grades 3-5 who may be struggling with any of these concepts. Great resources to share at a back-to-school or outreach night!

These events showcase the best practices LEA and ESC MEP staff are utilizing that impact the implementation of an effective Migrant Education Program.

Asset Mapping
One of the practices shared by Raymondville ISD staff during the Best Practices Showcase was the use of asset mapping. Asset mapping is a powerful tool for communities and organizations to harness the strengths and resources that often go unnoticed. It serves as a means to document a community's existing assets, whether they are individuals or organizations, and channel these strengths toward shared goals.
This process fosters connections within the community, creating a reference tool that can effectively address local challenges, particularly in the realm of health equity. Asset maps not only empower communities but also serve as dynamic references for improving the well-being of both individuals and organizations, promoting collaboration and enhancing the overall community fabric. To learn more about asset mapping and to access an asset mapping tool, visit the Community Asset Mapping Guide.

Winter Timeline of Events
As we embrace the winter months of 2024, it's time to make sure we're on the right track for the upcoming Consolidated State Performance Report (CSPR). One critical step to ensuring the success of your Migrant Education Program is the entry and verification of all Texas National Migrant Education Data System (TX-NGS) data from the previous year.
The CSPR is a vital document that plays a pivotal role in the allocation of federal funds and the assessment of the program's effectiveness. To present an accurate reflection of students' needs and the impact of MEP services, it's crucial that all data is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
Here are some key steps to follow:
Data Gathering: Start by collecting all relevant TX-NGS data from the previous year, including information on migrant student demographics, services provided, and student outcomes.
Data Entry: Ensure that the data is entered into the TX-NGS system accurately. Double-check that all fields are completed and there are no missing or incomplete records.
Data Verification: Verify the entered data to confirm its accuracy. This step is essential for maintaining the integrity of the information that will be used to evaluate the program.
Timely Submission: Keep in mind the deadline for CSPR submission, and work diligently to meet it. Late or incomplete submissions can lead to funding and program performance issues.
Training and Support: If you or your team need any assistance or training in data entry and verification, don't hesitate to reach out to our program coordinators or the TX-NGS support team.
By ensuring the accuracy and completeness of your TX-NGS data, you not only pave the way for a successful CSPR submission but also contribute to the continued success of the Migrant Education Program in Texas. Your dedication to accurate data entry and verification is vital for better serving the needs of our migrant students and securing the resources necessary for their educational journey.
Thank you for your hard work, and let's make Winter 2024 a season of preparation and success!
