Captain's Log
Dear Families,
Last Friday we experienced another wonderful Egan community tradition/event – the Ice Cream Social. It used to be an 8th grade only event, and I am so happy we decided to make it an all student and staff event a couple of years ago! It is a great way to begin the Memorial Day weekend and begin to celebrate the end of another school year. I hope you and your families/friends had an enjoyable “extra day” and “kick-off” to the summer. 🙂
As we begin to close for the school year, please help your student find any/all textbooks, library books, or class materials and turn them in to the appropriate people. We will have our annual locker “clean out” on Monday, June 5th. Further, help your student(s) finish out the year strong by encouraging them to turn in all of their assignments.
We will continue to “wrap up” the school year this week with the 8th grade Viking Showcase on Thursday. Eighth grade history will also be displaying their Decades Projects in the Multi that same day from 8:30 until 3pm. We are looking forward to seeing many of you on campus for the Viking Showcase! A huge thank you to the parent volunteers for organizing the event, and for additional community members coming together to interview students.
We have a minimum day this Friday, the school day will end for students at 12:30pm. There is a parent sponsored end of year party/dance for 8th graders that evening at the Los Altos Community Center. Thank you to all those that are planning and executing this fun evening for the graduating class.
Seventh Grade Movie “Walking” Field trip: On Tuesday, June 6th while the 8th graders are celebrating at the Boardwalk, the 7th graders will be having a celebration of their own. Students should have turned in completed permission slips to their History teacher. Please reach out if you have any questions.
In partnership, thanks for being awesome!🙂

Hot Lunch Volunteers Needed at LAHS
Want to see firsthand what student life at high school is like? LAHS is looking for parent volunteers to help serve lunch at the pizza cart starting in August. We distribute lunch to hundreds of hungry students every day! Pizza cart operates with a staff of 5 or 6 adult volunteers outside in the quad. All food is prepared/delivered onsite ready for you.
The minimum time commitment is one hour every 4 weeks, with approximately 9 shifts throughout the school year. You can sign up to work as often as you like. Grab a friend and sign up together! An added bonus — you’ll get a fantastic view of the quad during the busiest part of the day! For additional information or to volunteer, contact sharontantan@yahoo.com .
