Boyden Weekly Update
November 3, 2023
Dear Boyden Families,
The Book Fair concluded this week and was a huge success. Thank you to all the families that attended, contributed, and volunteered to make it successful. A special thanks to Mrs. Moses, our Media/STEM Teacher, and Boyden mom Mrs. Caressimo for organizing the fair. The love of literacy and books is such an important piece to an elementary student's education. The Book Fair is just one way we try to bring that to our students and families at Boyden.
Have a nice weekend!

What are the Students Learning About in PE?
K: Kindergarten classes are starting to settle in nicely during the first few months of PE! Classes are working on a variety of locomotor and non-locomotor skills such as; balance, levels, throwing, and catching. We have started to use different types of equipment to help learn these important skills all while having fun!
1st: First-grade classes have been busy revisiting both locomotor and non-locomotor skills
during PE class. Our classes have used different pieces of equipment like beanbags, rings,
hoops, and balls to help reinforce these skills.
2nd: Second-grade PE classes have started working on the skill of throwing during their PE
classes. We have played several games as well as taking the time to break down proper
throwing techniques!
3rd: Third graders started their first year of playing a fun game of Quidditch. This game
incorporates many skills from basketball, baseball, and handball. Classes are also working on
the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship during the games.
4th: Fourth graders started their second year of Quidditch as they have begun to really pick up the game. Students are really working hard on the technique of passing and finding open space while playing the game.
5th: Fifth grade has also worked on Quidditch during the month of October. It is truly fun to
watch how well students have picked up the game throughout the years! Students have done a fantastic job integrating the skills of throwing, catching, blocking, and defending during the
games.
