For the Month of January
Welcome to 2024!
I would first like to start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. I wish each and everyone of you the best of luck in 2024. I am hopeful that your Christmas Break was enjoyable and you were able to spend some valuable time with your family and friends.
I am very excited to have the staff and students back in the building. On the elementary end, January seems to be pretty open and not many events scheduled. This will allow staff and students to get back into their routines and quickly pick up where they left off in December. I am excited to see what this second semester holds for our students. I know the teachers have been working hard to plan fun and exciting lessons for the students. Students can look forward to more project based learning, centered activities to reinforce skills taught in class, and even in-depth novel studies for the intermediate grade levels.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me at dusty.eikenberg@wileyschool.org and I would be glad to help in anyway possible. As always, it is an honor to be apart of this school and community.

Christmas Around the World
On December 19th, our third Family Night took place in the gymnasium. Families were able to rotate through six different stations learning about how different countries around the world celebrate Christmas. At each station, families were able to create a craft and even taste test a treat from each country. The turnout was amazing and it is so nice to have families coming together to partner with the school. We will have two ore Family Nights before the end of this school year so stay tuned for the next event!

School Bus Reminders
Students: When entering/exiting the school bus, please make sure that you are not walking right in front of the bus. Please make sure that you are walking straight to your vehicle and getting in with your parents/guardians. Please make sure that you are looking both directions when passing through lines of parked vehicles. This is to keep you safe and help prevent you from getting potentially ran over.
Parents: It is a law that you are to stay parked until the red flashing lights on the top of the cab of the bus and the stop sign are in operation. This is to keep our children as safe as possible. Once the bus driver sees that all students have arrived to their vehicles they will turn off the red flashing lights and the stop sign will fold back. Once this happens, that is your signal that you are safe to begin pulling out of the parking lot. I do not want one of our student getting hit by a vehicle because of total carelessness. If you have any questions or concerns about this please let me know.
Here are the flashing light systems that everyone needs to become familiar with. This is from www.drivesmartcolorado.com
- Learn the flashing light system that school bus drivers use to alert motorists about stopping.
- Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop and load or unload children. Motorists need to slow down and prepare to stop.
- Red flashing lights and extended stop arm mean the bus has stopped and children are boarding or exiting the bus. Motorists must come to a complete stop a safe distance from the bus and wait until the red lights stop flashing and the arm is retracted before moving.
Lost and Found
If your child is missing their coat, hats, gloves, etc. please remind them to check the Lost and Found. Your child has until January 25th to claim misplaced items. What is left in the Lost and Found after this date will be donated to charity.
