Thank you from St. Martin de Porres School!
From principal Sean Murray: At this time, I want to thank our partners at St. Katharine of Siena Church and School for their brotherhood and sisterhood, and for their generosity in donating so many wonderful and needed items to replenish our school supplies drive. The school year has officially begun! Students entered the building on their first day back with joy, hope, and excitement for the year ahead. May all of our students - at SKS and SMDP - have a school year that is blessed with joyous wonder and persistent dedication to community and learning. May we all be transformed by the gift of a transformative Catholic education and in gratitude to our loving God, commit ourselves to the work of building the Kingdom, one student at a time.
"Walking in Wayne"
Friday afternoons are traditionally a time when our middle school students walk through Wayne enjoying the shops and their friends. Last week I spoke with each class in grades 5-8 and went over expectations for behavior. I reminded them that they represent our school any time they are out in town, especially when wearing a school uniform or any SKS gear. We discussed using appropriate language, following the rules of the road, and showing respect to friends and store employees. I love that the children have this special time with their friends and I reminded them about the importance of making choices that would make themselves and others proud. Here's to many fun and safe outings with friends!
Prayer Corner
This week's family tip is creating a space for prayer in your home. Perhaps just a small table with a Bible, a rosary, and a crucifix. When it's a "lazy day" at home (which I know doesn't happen very often!) show children the family Bible and pick a story or verse to read together. 5 minutes is all you need to connect with your children through prayer.
Summer Reading Adventure was a hit!
These 8th grade artists created an impressive mural!
Working together
Here's to another great week at SKS!
Thank you for all of your support. Hope to see many of you at 9am mass on Wednesday.
God Bless You!
