Message from Principal and Assistant Principal

No School On Monday

School will not be in session on Monday, October 9 for Columbus/Indigenous People's Day. School will resume on Tuesday.

Next Week 3R Focus - Respectfulness on the Bus

Next week students will be continuing our Byam 3R weekly focus with ways to show the 3R Respectfulness on the Bus

This week's 3R's Focus

This week the Byam 3R's focus was the 3R of "Respectfulness" in the Hallway/Cubbies.

Next week the Byam 3R's focus is "Respectfulness on the Bus". We will be sharing reminders such as Level 0-2 voices, keeping body and possessions to self, and be kind.

SEL Survey for 3rd and 4th Grade Surveys

Please see the following message from Shannon Bischoff, our Coordinator of Social and Emotional Learning:

Dear Chelmsford Families,

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to support student learning growth and well-being. Chelmsford values input from our community and we consider students as important partners to improve our communication, academic program and overall experience for our school communities.

In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback by participating in an electronic survey they will be completing at school in the fall and again in the spring. The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

We are asking that all of our students (in grades 3-12) participate in the survey. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on the following content topics; Sense of Belonging, Supportive Relationships, Social Awareness, Self-Management and Emotion Regulation.

Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey by informing your child’s teacher. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact your building administration or student’s teacher.

Vision and Hearing Screenings in October

We will be holding state mandated screenings for hearing and vision for our Byam students October 16-17-18.

BMI measurement with height and weight will also be recorded this school year.

Grade level screenings include:
KG: hearing, vision/stereopsis (if not already submitted for entry to KG)

1st: hearing, vision/stereopsis, BMI

2nd: hearing, vision/stereopsis

3rd: hearing, vision/stereopsis

4th: distance vision, BMI

If you prefer your child not participate in our screenings, please send a written and signed note (phone messages are not accepted).

Please email (regana@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) or send in the written note no later than Thursday, October 12 in order to be removed from the screening list.
