Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
Year 9 girls took part in an event in collaboration with Northampton University, and below is the fantastic work they created, the students were awarded certificates for their participation.

Miss Buffini would like to say thank you to all the Year 7’s who have written lovely welcoming notes to the new Year 6’s coming to us in September.

Subject Highlights:
Maths:
Mr Jackson's and Mrs Ferns' 8A1 Maths class have been nominated for performing well in the recent end of year assessments....all showing great progress!
Mr Lee has nominated his Year 10 group for their excellent work with composite functions this week in Maths.
Ms Adamska would like to nominate her 10B1 class for their determination and hard work on the equation of a tangent to a circle.
Music:
Year 7: Well done to Lubo, Oliwia and William (7TU) for making a lot of progress with their pop song pieces this week. A really great effort was made by all.
Year 8: Miss Patrick really enjoyed listening to 8CO’s creative group drum compositions this week. Harry, Kara, Angela, Keelie-Anne, Dylan and Oliver P particularly impressed her with their complex rhythms and their ability to play in time with each other – well done!
Year 9: Well done to Ella, Melissa and Ana in 9SW and Oscar and Paulina in 9CO who scored full marks on their listening tests in music this week – excellent work!
English:
Ms Hallybone has nominated Saul in Year 10 for outstanding contributions in Romeo and Juliet lessons.
Miss Lodge has nominated 8C2 and 9AZ for their fantastic effort in their end of year assessments! Also nominated are Addison, Mason and Lily (7SI) for their hard work this week in English, having some fantastic discussions about poetry and analysing a Wilfred Owen poem!
A big thank you from Mrs Brown to the transition students who attended the English masterclass. We had a fantastic session and all there wowed Mrs Brown with their ideas. Present were: Debony R, Carmen C, Tamsyn D and Sonny T.
Humanities:
Miss Bird would like to say well done to Bella, Kitty, Lexi and Kara in 8CO for their excellent results in their History assessments. Some of their responses were really excellent -well done girls! Also to 9TE who attempted a GCSE style question, some of their responses have been really impressive.
Mrs Vaghadia would like to say well done to 9ST for their excellent contribution to classroom discussion in RSCS some very interesting debates well done. Also nominated are 7A2 English for their consistent hard work and participation in the lesson. excellent work well done, Year 10 Sociology students for working super hard in the lessons and completing work to high standard even when it has been challenging. Finally, 8ST RSCS students for their great contribution to classroom discussions, well done keep this up!
Mr Strumpher has nominated he following students who did really well in their assessments in Geography:
Patryk, Courtney, Nikole K, Trafford, Reva, and Blanka (7CO), Kai (7SI), Robert, Harry, Stas, Ollie, Oliver, and Isabella (8CO) and Myrtle, Dylan, Isabel, Damion, Isla, and Jonathan (9TA).
Mr Strumpher would also like to say well done to his Year groups for their hard work towards their Geography assessments.
Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
7CU for their amazing effort in Geography especially in the past 2 weeks. Well done Mauricio for achieving an amazing result on your test! Well done to Maya, Freddie and Joprince (8TE) for being committed to their studies in geography shown in their classwork and assessments. Well done to 9ST for being committed to Geography which has been shown in this week's lessons about Asia and Russia. Well done to Year 10 students James H and Gabriela M for working hard in the lesson and revising well outside of class which has shown amazing progress in their latest classwork and assessments.
Mr Gealy would like to give a special mention to Orla in 7ST for an outstanding end of year assessment result that is a reflection of her positive attitude to work and attitude over the course of the entire year. Well done!
DT/Food Technology:
Mrs Firmin has nominated Thamid, Arina, Mary, Lucy, Courtney, Gretil and Sandra (8TA) for amazing shop front design ideas. Also nominated are Euan, Dexter, Kacper and Louis (9TA) for their excellent design work and Amelia, Dejan, Amelia, Maciej, Kai, Robert, Nikola K and Ethan (9CO) for their inspirational and creative ideas in design.
Science:
The Science team would like to say congratulations to the students in Year 7 who have successfully met the criteria for the CREST Award – Super Star. We can’t wait to hand out the certificates to the students.
Excellent work from Jack in Year 12 with his first synthesis practical. Jack has been learning how to make salicylic acid which he will then turn into aspirin.
PE:
