Attendance Contest
Mrs. Sokolis' class and Mr. Main's class won the attendance contest we had the week before winter break! Both classes will get extra recess time!
Please remember the importance of sending your child to school. Setting good habits early helps kids understand the importance of education. Be sure your child gets to bed at a reasonable hour and gets plenty of sleep. This will help them be successful at school. We are hoping our attendance percentage will go up from here! It has been really bad the last few months.
If your child is sick with a fever or vomiting, please keep them home. Also, it is important to call the school to notify us of the reason for absence. If we do not get a call, the absence becomes a truancy. When a child has 3 or more truancies, the absence process begins!
Front Gate
Many of you have noticed the changes to our front gates! In order to keep students and staff safer, the gates are no longer easy to open to the public. The gates will remain open in the mornings until about 9:15. After that, anyone entering will need to call the front office in order to be admitted. This makes being on time extremely important!
Please remember the main office phone number is 916-395-4605 and the number for the after school program is 916-873-4027.
Kindergarten Enrollment
Kindergarten enrollment begins on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The enrollment process is only available online this year! if you visit the SCUSD website, you will see an icon for enrollment information. If you need assistance with the process, enrollment center personnel will be at James Marshall on January 22 from 4:00pm-6:00pm, in the cafeteria! In order to enroll, you will need a birth certificate, shot records, proof of address and an ID.

Sly Park - April 29-May 3
The annual sixth grade trip to Sly Park is quickly approaching. Information is coming home with students! Please fill out the form and send it back to your child's teacher as soon as possible. Additionally, we will need parent chaperones! We currently have one female chaperone! We need more! If we don't have enough, we are not permitted to go! Please reach out to the office if you are interested and able to go!
Congratulations!
We had 64 students who did not miss a day of school during the first trimester (August 31-December 1)! This is not an accomplishment to take lightly! Congratulations to not only the students but their parents as well for setting up great habits! Keep up the hard work!
Parking Lot Etiquette
Please remember not to line up until your student is dismissed. We have intermediate students'' parents lining up first, which holds up the line. If you have students in each segment, primary and intermediate, please wait until 3:07 to get in line!
If you are picking up from the after school program, please use a designated parking space. The pick up/drop off lanes should not be used to park! Additionally, the red curb should not be used to park. Thank you for your cooperation!
CSUS Readers Program
The before school reading tutoring program will be back when CSUS goes back for their spring semester. Look for permission slips to go home at the end of January or the beginning of February!
