Tuesday Notice

Dear Siskiyou School Parents,

Hopefully everyone had time to read the Back-To-School letters sent out last Friday. We appreciate you taking the time to read through all the details. If you haven’t had the time to see those yet, please scroll down and you will find the letter and details there.

We are working like busy bees this week getting everything ready for the return of the children. Teachers are in their classrooms setting up and thinking about their classes and their first blocks.

Please come to campus on Friday if you have time to help out with last details on campus. Thanks to Chris Kaiser, Barret O'Brien (along with Miranda and Aveyln), Olivia Doty, Celina Reppond, Brigitte Culhane, Chris Wren, Pavel Agapov, Misha, Anya, Dunya, and Serafima for all their hard work last Saturday setting up one outdoor classroom by the Glendale House and preparing for another one to go up soon at the Clay Street Garden. A big thank you to Cynthia for overseeing the work day.

Today I would like to share this little verse above so often used in the lower grades during movement and circle time. It reminds me of how in these times we are asked to be strong and brave and remember all the good in the world!

Looking Ahead:

Mon, Sept 6: No School. Labor Day.

Tues, Sept 7: First Day of School.

Tues-Fri, Sept 7-10: Half Days; 8:25 to 12:20/12:30/12:45, according to your child’s grade.

Mon, Sept 13: Full-Day daily schedule for all classes begins; 8:25 to 2:10/3:00/3:10.

Thurs, Sept 16: Parent Welcome Night & First Parent Meetings, 6:00-8:00pm.

1st week and all Fridays & half days, (9/7-9/10):

Drop-off for all grades: 8:10-8:25; the bell rings at 8:25.

Pick-up times for all grades:

• Grade 1: 12:20pm

• Grades 2-5: 12:30pm

• Grades 6-8: 12:45pm
  

2nd week and all weeks Mon-Thur, starting on 9/13:

Drop-off for all grades: 8:10-8:25; the bell rings at 8:25.

Pick-up times for all grades:

• Grade 1: 2:10pm (Sept-Feb)

• Grades 2-5: 3:00pm

• Grades 6-8: 3:10pm

Tuition can be dropped off in the tan payment box outside the main red front entrance doors. If you need to speak with the office regarding payment or if you are dropping off cash, please enter through the front doors where a staff member will meet you to help you as needed. Thank you!

This Friday we are opening campus for our Family Work Party! Please join us as we work to get the campus ready for the start of school. This Friday, from 9am - 1pm, we invite families to campus to help with campus work and helping with the outdoor tent areas. Please stop by the front office, or catch us on the woodchips, and we will let you know where help is needed.

Please feel free to come at any time between 9am - 1pm.

Please note that mask wearing will be required during the work party.

Next week we will have an optional open house and parent-teacher check in for all grades. During this time, every parent that would like to check-in with their students teacher will need to sign-up. Additionally, please check the below sheet for Open House times for your specific class.

The check-ins with the teacher are a designated moment with your child’s class teacher to share things that have come up over the summer or other important developments. As for the Open House, it’s a time when class teachers open their classrooms for a few hours before the start of school.

Last Friday we sent out the Back to School letter which included information on the school's smoke, Covid and zoom policies. If you missed the letter, please click the links below:

During wildfire season, please check our website each morning. By 6:30am each day we will have posted whether we will be having a half day or a full day, based on smoke pollution/AQI levels. Click on the link below to read our full Smoke Policy for Fall 2021 or by clicking the Smoke Policy here.

Per the Governor’s recent mandate, we will be wearing masks indoors at all times and following ODE guidelines regarding distancing. We will adhere to the 3’ distancing inside classrooms and will also wear masks outdoors when we can’t keep to the required 6’ distancing. We will be sure to give the children many mask breaks. There will be many opportunities for students to be out of masks outdoors at various times over the course of the school day.
