Bridge Street School Vision and Mission Statements

This commitment to educational equity, where all children are successful regardless of their personal, social, or cultural contexts, is at the core of our practices, structures, and policies.
A Message from Principal Choquette
This week on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, the fifth graders will be having their Nature Week. Please make sure students dress in layers and in comfortable clothes and shoes. Students should wear sunscreen as they will be outside all day. They should all have a water bottle as well. They will have their normal lunch/recess.
This week on Wednesday there is a half day teacher work day. Full-day preschool and K-5 students dismiss at 11:30 and morning preschool dismisses at their normal time. There is no BASE on Wednesday.
Wednesday is also School Nurses Day. Thank you Nurse Jess for everything. It has been a very challenging 2 years for our school nurses and we are so grateful to Nurse Jess for keeping us safe and healthy. Thank you Nurse Jess!!!
On behalf of the teachers and staff, thank you to the PTO for an amazing Teacher's Appreciation Week. We appreciate all that you do to support our school, students, and our amazing faculty and staff. It was a wonderful week.
Just a friendly reminder that the last day of school is Monday, June 27th and it is a half day. The 4-day/week preschoolers will end on Thursday, June 23rd and the 5-day/week preschools will end with a half day on Friday, June 24th.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Friends of Ward 3
We're looking forward to celebrating the installation of the Jerry Budgar Community Board at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 in Lampron Park, which is in front of the Bridge St. School. For those of you who knew Jerry, who supported our effort to build the beautiful community board, or those who want to know more about the Ward 3 Neighborhood Association, please join us in our celebration. The Super Pac Band, an amazing group of players devoted to stringed instruments, will provide music.

5th Grade
Hello 5th grade families and caregivers,
Happy Spring to all of you!
There are several things happening at BSS for the 5th grade and lots of opportunities to volunteer, including:
- Fundraising – we need to raise funds for the yearbook, Nature Week, promotion (graduation), and a class gift to the school. Attached is a flyer that you can distribute to your friends and family. If you are willing and able, you can make your own donation here: Bridge Street School, Northampton, 5th Grade (givebutter.com). We will also be asking community businesses (Herrels, Big Y, etc.) to show their support of their local school with donations. If you have a personal connection with a business that may be able might help us please contact motownjen@yahoo.com. We hope to raise at least $2,500.
- Volunteers are needed to work on fundraising, promotion, and the yearbook. If you’d like to volunteer, please sign up here or contact Stacey Dakai at sdakai@gmail.com.
- Promotion date is June 23 at 9:00 AM with a rain date of June 24 at 9:00 AM.
- Yearbook – Yearbook - Thanks to all who have submitted or uploaded photos! The deadline was May 6 but we'll extend it until all are collected! We're a little over halfway there but there are a group of 13 students for whom we don't have contact information and we want everyone represented! If you think you have not added your name to this contacts spreadsheet, please do so OR send an email to bss-yearbook@googlegroups.com and we'll provide instructions on what to do next. We're looking for 6-8 digital photos of your child(ren) and they can represent different ages. We also welcome group/friend shots. Due to file sizes and storage limits, we ask that you please email your photos to bss-yearbook@googlegroups.com rather than the parent contact directly (Catarina Costa; costawofford@gmail.com).
- Nature Week is scheduled for the week of May 9 – 14. There are currently one and a half days scheduled at BSS with the Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary and one day with Nature on Wheels. The other two day are in the process of being coordinated.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Stacey Dakai at sdakai@gmail.com
