Idaho Battle of the Books
Idaho Battle of the Books, or IBOB, is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program for middle grade students from grades 6-9. IBOB is meant to expose students to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints. The mission of the program is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, share the love of reading with students who have not yet discovered that for themselves, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students.
Sixteen books are chosen each year. Student collectively read the books in teams of four, discuss them, and then compete to correctly answer questions based on the books in a "quiz show" format.
If your student wishes to participate, please have them see Mrs. Murphy in the library. A permission slip signed by the student and a parent/guardian is required. Click here for the permission slip.
Orchestra & Band Concert
Orchestra concert begins at 6:00pm in the cafeteria
Band concert begins at 7:00pm in the gym
Vision and Hearing Screenings
We will be starting Vision and Hearing Screenings for your student, but we need your help. Verify that your PowerSchool consent was completed after July 11th, and you consented or declined vision and hearing screenings.
As a result of the Parental Rights Act, there has been a change in the medical consent forms accessible in PowerSchool. In Power School, the Acknowledgement and Consent for Services has been updated. The consents MUST be electronically signed (verbal consent on a case-by-case basis will not be honored). This change occurred July 11th. Any account in which forms were updated prior to July 11th needs the medical forms to be updated.
Vision screening may uncover certain vision problems that may have a negative impact on your child's academic performance. Vision screening may pick up certain problems, but not all. It is not intended to replace a complete vision and eye health exam performed by your eye doctor. Vision screening is conducted in the fall for students in grades K, 1, 3, and 5, or anytime at parent or teacher request or for students in the IEP/MTSS process. Parents are required to consent for service. This consent form is located in Power School.
Healthy hearing is vital for learning and even a mild hearing impairment can put a child at a disadvantage in the more demanding listening environment of the classroom because of noise, reverberation and distance from the speaker or sound source. Early detection of hearing problems is essential to prevent delayed academic progress. Hearing Screenings are conducted at Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grade, or anytime at a parent or teacher request or for students in the IEP/MTSS process. Parents are required to consent for service. This consent form is located in PowerSchool.
