Take Home Tuesday September 12th
Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Be Safe.
For God so loved YOU...
This week our Gospel on Thursday at our All School Mass is from one of the most well-known verses. John 3:16 is at the core of the Gospel reading which says:
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Only John uses eternal and life in conjunction, even throughout multiple chapters. God created us for life, not death, and to continue living in His kingdom beyond our current world. Although verse 16 is extremely common, I believe verse 17 carries great meaning as well. It tells us that Jesus' sacrifice was necessary for our salvation. An underserved gift for all who trust and believe in the Lord. We all have a choice for how to respond to this gift of grace - accept and receive or to reject and refuse.
May we all ask the Holy Spirit to help us focus on controlling our own selves as we strive to respond to His call with acceptance of God's heavenly grace and eternal redemption for life with Him one day!
