The Gator Gazette
November 4, 2022
Gator Greetings
Next Tuesday, November 8th, we will have our 2nd eLearning Day of the year. This allows teachers to have professional development with colleagues to continue to learn and grow as educators. It also happens to be Election Day, so don’t forget to vote! E-Learning lessons will be posted by 9:00am on Canvas. Students will bring home their school-issues Chromebooks to use and should plan to spend time on Tuesday working through all the lessons that teachers have prepared on Canvas, including recorded videos from Special Area teachers.
Families with students in Grades 2-5 should mark your calendars for VIP Day on Friday, November 11th. This is a fun day at Allisonville when we celebrate VIP’s or special people in the lives of our students. VIP’s can arrive at the times listed in the Gazette to head straight to the classroom to pick up their student and then rotate through several interactive stations that our PTO volunteers have put together. If you are interested in volunteering at VIP Day, please email allisonvillepto@gmail.com. Veterans Day is also on November 11th, and we will be celebrating it with a musical performance by our 3rd Graders in the morning. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue that day and families can submit information about a Veteran for the school-wide slide show.
Midterms will also be coming home next Friday, November 11th to let families know how students are doing thus far in the second quarter. Since the weather has been so warm, it is hard to believe that we are only a couple weeks away from Thanksgiving Break. Teachers are moving into more challenging math concepts and switching from fiction to non-fiction units in literacy while students keep working hard and trying their best. Grades K, 2, and 5 will participate in the CogAT assessment for high ability learning next week. Parents can learn more information about CogAT later in the Gazette.
Don’t forget to “fall behind” this weekend with daylight savings time on Sunday morning and remember to reset your clocks before school starts on Monday morning!

We welcome students in grades 2-5 to invite a special person in their life, who could be either a grandparent, neighbor, relative, family friend, or parent. Due to space, please limit the number of VIP’s to no more than two guests per student. Please do not arrive until 15 minutes prior to your VIP slot to allow for parking.
· Grade 3 – 8:20-8:45 Program; 8:45-9:30 VIP Day
· Grade 2 – 9:50-10:35 am
· Grade 4 – 11:05:11:50 am
· Grade 5 – 12:15-1:00 pm
Upon arrival, VIPs should park and enter the front doors of the school building where they will be directed to classrooms to pick up their students. There will be activities throughout the building for students and VIPs to enjoy together. Each grade level will have 45 minutes.
Veterans Day
November 11th is also Veterans Day. All students (and attendees) are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. At Allisonville, we recognize our Veterans and honor them for their service. Students have been learning about Veterans Day and families are encouraged to submit a photo and information of a veteran family member for a digital slideshow of Mrs. Weiger. Students in 3rd Grade have been working on a musical program for Veterans Day which will be performed live for the VIPs before the 3rd Grade time slot on Friday.
Thanks to our PTO for making VIP Day possible at Allisonville.

Art to Remember
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Orders are slated to arrive in mid-December, before Winter Break.
Personalized paper order forms came home this week. You can also click on the link below to search for your child's artwork. Have fun shopping!
Gator Giving
This November, PTO will be sponsoring a drive for items needed to help students and families of Allisonville. Through the resourcing of our School Social Worker, Miss Williamson, these items will be distributed to use throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Gift cards should be dropped directly to the front office noted GGD; donated items below can be dropped to the boxes in the entryway of school at any time.
Thank you for your consideration in helping our AV community. If you are able to contribute, please consider involving your children in purchasing the items! Clothing items can be gently used if washed and without stains or holes. Please consider contributing to the Gator Giving Drive during November 7th-18th using the guidelines below. We need youth sizes S-XL in shirts, pants, and sweatshirts.
Kindergarten: Walmart Gift Cards or Childrens Socks
First Grade: Aldi Gift Cards or Girls Pants
Second Grade: Walmart Gifts Cards or Boys Pants
Third Grade: Aldi Gift Cards or Girls Shirts
Fourth Grade: Walmart Gift Cards or Boys Shirts
