Students in grade 11 will have an opportunity to select courses for senior year this week. Students will meet individually with their school counselor throughout the week. English and Social Science classes will bring students to the main office.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

1. Students MUST bring their course contract signed by parent/guardian to their meeting

It's that time of year! Starting this month, students in grades 9-11 will select courses for the 20-21 school year. Course request forms will be distributed in English/Social Science/Science classes. Students will select courses on Q Student Connect, and return their completed registration form to their counselor.

Students will meet with counselors to discuss course requests on the following dates:

Future Seniors: Feb 25th-27th, March 2nd-3rd (English 11/US History)

Future Juniors: March 9th-12th (English 10/Bio CP)

Future Sophomores: March 17th-23rd (English 9 /BioH/ Earth Sci)

On Saturday, March 7th, 2020, form 9:00am to 12:00pm, the Ventura County Transition Fair will take place at the Ventura County Office of Education. This Transition Fair is designed for families of students receiving Special Education services and is an open house where you will learn about the transition plan and the support agencies designed to meet your students' needs in the transition to quality adult life. The City of Thousand Oaks is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Youth Recognition Award. Deadline for nominations is February 28th. Please see the flyer for more information and nominate a deserving youth!

Our next School Site Council Meeting is Tuesday, February 25th at 3:00 in the Library Conference Room. All members of the NPHS community are welcome to attend.

Congratulations to our Lady Panther Julia Richey for finishing second overall in CIF! Julia will now move on to the state meet in Fresno!

Nico Young was honored by Gatorade as the National Cross Country Runner of the Year and is now eligible for the overall National High School Athlete of the Year!

Congrats to Mrs. Strange and our NPHS drama students for another great Mystery Dinner Theatre event!

Also, a final congrats to our Unified Sports Team for another great event with Simi Valley High School. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day great!

Test prep workshop for those interested in the taking the SAT college entrance exam will be held on March 28th and April 4th at the Adult School. Additional information found on the Adult School website: http://www.conejoadultschool.org/Academic/sat.htm

The Newbury Park High School is sponsoring an Online SAT Bootcamp. Please click on the link below for information and how to register. This is a fundraiser as well for our PFA.

Student Advisory Board-Club Representatives (Mandatory), SDAC Representatives, and any student who would like to attend come to discuss school events, culture, offer ideas, share concerns and work on student WASC business during lunch. Minutes will be taken to be shared and attendees' names and groups are recorded.

NPHSl students should take pride in being part of a campus with great employees who contribute to keeping the grounds clean for all students, staff and community members. There is no doubt that a clean, well-kept campus can lead to a more productive learning environment.

The facilities and maintenance crews along with our campus security and staff work daily to keep the campus clean for our students, faculty, and staff, but we need your help!

Students need to lend a helping hand to keep up the work by providing a clean campus for a better learning environment. Please take responsibility for picking up after yourself; parents please remind your student to properly dispose of their trash. Whenever we drop a piece of paper, a dirty napkin, or leave our food on the ground or a table, it is left behind for someone else to pick up. It should not be someone else’s responsibility. Please help us keep our campus clean. And perhaps, take a minute to acknowledge staff that consistently work to keep our campus beautiful.
