Weekly Update May 20, 2022
Head Cheetah's Message
Dear Families,
As we approach the last full week of May, we can’t help but reflect on how proud we are of our students and staff. This has been an amazing year! It has been a year full of growth, strength, perseverance, and so many wonderful celebrations. Watching our grade 3 students dance the night away at the EHEPTO sponsored Special Person Dance last Friday was pure joy! We can’t wait to see the smiles on our cheetahs’ faces during the upcoming Writing Celebration, Fun Days, Kindergarten Show, Preschool Graduations, and various special events and ceremonies. Memorial School is finishing the year happy and strong!
With appreciation for your partnership,
Joey & Andrea

Physical Education News
Hi everyone, a slightly different format for this last Newsletter (June’s Newsletter will be directed more towards summer activities and our PE Summer Exercise Challenge).
We have just completed our gymnastics unit and are presently doing cooperative and movement activities.
We will be doing our Track and Field Unit the 2-3 weeks leading up to Fun Days, where we will continue working on our PE class expectations, and begin doing the running long jump, shot put (light, modified), shuttle run, sprinting events, and hurdles, to name a few.
We will be outside the week of the Writing Celebration, and most days whenever we can. The days can get hot, so we are very mindful of keeping the children safe and hydrated (please make sure your child has a water bottle each day, especially on PE days so they can hydrate, the water fountains are still for filling up water bottles only). Shorts, a light colored t- shirt, and of course sneakers are best for PE days.
Thank you to all who have signed up and are able to help out with our Fun Days (the week of June 6- 9), we really appreciate your help and couldn’t do it without you! If you did volunteer, we will meet you at 830am the morning of your Fun Day in the gym (I will have the outside doors by the gym available for you to enter the gym).
Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather during our Fun Day week, it's always a great day for the children and for us too!
Stay healthy and active,
Coach Ruel

The Writing Celebration Is Coming!
Grade 3 Center School Visit
We are excited to announce that grade 3 students will be visiting Center School on Friday, June 3rd! In order to maximize the time that our students are able to spend there, students will go straight to Center School that day. If your student rides the school bus, they will be getting off the bus at Center School that morning, as opposed to Memorial School. Center School staff members will board the bus upon arrival to greet the students and guide them into the school. If you typically transport your child to school, we ask that you drop your student off in the Center School circle between 8:25-8:40. The grade 3 teachers will meet the students at Center School. Lunch will be provided by the Center School cafeteria staff. Or, if you prefer, you may send a lunch with your child. Once everyone arrives, our students will adhere to the following schedule:
8:45-9:20 Introductions and Teacher Panel Q&A
9:20-9:30 Transition to Classrooms
9:30-10:50 Visit 4 classrooms for 20 minutes in each room
10:50-11:10 Lunch in the Center School Cafeteria
11:15-11:25 Recess
11:30 Board Buses to Return to Memorial School
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!
Do you enjoy digging in the dirt? Are you handy at building things? Do you enjoy helping out your school community? Memorial School has been awarded a school garden grant and we need YOUR help to build it from the ground up! We will be hosting two “Grow our Garden” building days on Saturday June 4th and Saturday June 11th from 8:00 to noon. If you and/or your family (children are welcome to help) would like to be involved in the excitement of starting our very own Memorial School Garden, please use the link below to sign up to volunteer on one or both days.
