Read Across America Spirit Week: To celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Week, Mrs. Mullins has arranged for our elementary to take part in a spirit week. We hope your student(s) can join us on these fun dress up days!

Tuesday, March 1st - Oh the Places You'll Go Day - Wear a college or vacation shirt!

Wednesday, March 2nd - One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Day - Wear red and blue!

Thursday, March 3rd -The Cat in the Hat Day - Wear a hat!

Friday, March 4th - Sleep Book and I Am Not Going to Get up Today Day - Wear school appropriate PJs.

Team Photos: Thursday, March 3, team photos will be taken of the following groups which have elementary students included:

Elementary Honor Choir: Wear jeans and Crane shirt. (No hats in the photo, so make plans for hair if participating in Spirit Week!)

Elementary Character Council: Wear jeans and a Crane shirt. (No hats in the photo, so make plans for hair if participating in Spirit Week!)

JH Basketball: Bring in uniform, warm-up shirt and shoes for photo. Students will turn in uniforms after picture!

JH Cheerleaders: Stay tuned. Mrs. Steele will update!

JH Volleyball: Stay tuned. Mrs. Medlin will update!

Boys and Girls Club Interest Survey: As soon as the Boys & Girls Club hires staff for the Crane location, they will be up and running! We need to know how many families will be taking advantage of this afterschool program. The cost will be $30. This cost covers afterschool care until 7 PM for the rest of this school year for students who are six years old through 6th grade. If you are planning on utilizing this program for your family even just one day of the week, please complete this survey so they can determine staffing needs for the Crane location! Thank you to those who have already completed this survey!

Character Student of the Month Assembly: This Friday at 7:45 AM is our Character Assembly for the month of February. If your child has been selected as a character kid, his/her teacher will be contacting you!

DARE Graduation: Our 5th grade students will be graduating from DARE on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 8:30 AM (directly after the Character Assembly) in the Jr. High Gym. The families of 5th grade students are invited to attend. It should be done by 9:30 AM.

Jr. High Volleyball: Jr. High Volleyball practice will continue this week each day after school until 5:45 PM. It will also be held on Monday from 3:45 PM-5:45 PM. Thursday is a game day!

Jr. High Baseball: Jr. High Baseball practice will begin Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the baseball field Tuesday-Friday after school until 5:30 PM.

Book Study Session 4 Tuesday: Our session 4 Glow Kids Book Study is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1 at 6:00 PM in the Data Room. If you think your child might be on their devices too much, this book study can help you justify a change! Join us!

Screenings for Preschool and New Kindergarten Students for Next School Year: We are now scheduling screenings for the upcoming school year for students who will be entering preschool and for students who will be entering kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year who were not enrolled in Crane Elementary's Preschool Program. Screening will take place on Friday, March 11. Please call the elementary office at 417-723-5300 ext. 1301, to schedule your child's screening.

Still Important...

Boys & Girls Club Status: We have taken calls asking about the opening date for the Boys & Girls Club opening in Crane. We are anxiously waiting and told as soon as they hire enough Youth Development Professionals for the Crane location, they plan on opening! If you or someone you know is interested in working for BGC, please apply at the website found here. Starting pay is $13 per hour. If you have questions about what the job entails, please contact Patrick Stewart at pstewart@bgcozarks.org .

Absences: If your child is going to be absent from school, regardless of reason, we need you to call the Elementary office to let us know. If you call before anyone is at school, please leave a voicemail letting us know your child's name and reason for absence. The office phone number is 417-723-5300 ext. 1301.

Honor Choir Practice: Honor Choir will have practice on Tuesday morning. Students should arrive at 7:25 AM and report to the music room.

Transportation Changes: We understand plans can change throughout the day. If transportation plans change for your child, please call the office to let Whitney know so she can ensure your child gets the message. Some parents have been messaging teachers on Dojo and there are days teachers do not see messages until after students have left for the day. We would hate to miss an important message!
