Principal's Update

We are nearing the finish line and I wanted to explain again the grading practice for this semester. Students will be completing the semester and earning a CR (for Credit) or an I (for Incomplete). A grade of CR means that the student has passed the course by completing enough of the work at an acceptable level of proficiency to move on to the next course. An I indicates the student did not complete enough of the work to demonstrate proficiency and does not earn credit for the course. It will be retaken again. These are the only two grades students will receive this semester. These two grades DO NOT effect GPAs in any way.

I understand that teenagers were built for the nightlife, however I hope that you are getting out of the house during daylight hours to get some much needed Vitamin D and that you aren't cooping your self up in your rooms and living the vampire life everyday. Vampires are cool in the movies, but they are not quite as cool when they are really living your homes:) Hang in there and keep positive, and as always...

Due to circumstances this year, our 2020 Graduation is a private event for graduates and their families only. Seniors are given passes for their families, anyone without a pass will not be admitted to the event. Instead, please send messages to your loved senior and congratulate them. It's still pretty cool to receive mail from the mailbox!

Please be collecting your school issued materials to be returned the week of June 8th. More information oh how that will occur will be coming soon.

Teachers have communicated to their classes when final work may be submitted. If you have a question about a deadline, please contact your teachers!! Time is running out so please don't wait until the last minute to submit your work! Help is always available so please reach out to your teachers or to the Interventionists and counselors if you need it!

Ms. Southwell and Mr. Pearson will be available Monday - Friday in a virtual ASA Google Hangout from 1 p.m. until 2p.m. They will be there in real time to help with class work, a friendly chat or with any issues you may be having. Each student can access ASA by going to their personal BHS calendar and clicking on the link for that day or by contacting Ms. Southwell or Mr. Pearson directly for the link.

Our IT Helpdesk is a simple email (helpdesk@buchananschools.com) or phone call (269-695-8428) away! If you need access to the Internet to complete any of your coursework, our Tech Team has installed access points in the parking lot of our building. Students should park in the high school student parking lot and your district provided device will automatically connect to the High School hotspot. If you are using your own device, you may connect to the BCS_GUEST network at any of our four campuses. The free guest network is available to everyone and does not require a username or password. The Internet provided through this service is filtered the same as it would be if the student using were using a computer inside the building. If anyone should experience problems connecting, they may contact the Help Desk through email at helpdesk@buchananschools.com or phone at 269-695-8428.

If you need to contact the school by phone, please be sure you use Option 1 or Option 2 only. Emails are best as they can be checked more regularly from home offices.
