Attendance
All grade levels kept a 90% attendance rate or higher this week! Together we can ensure student success by providing early interventions to remove barriers to student attendance and prevent chronic absenteeism. Our Highland Hills Eagles are in school on time, safe, and learning every day. We have student incentives for attendance in place.
Classroom incentive to earn a reward for every student after the class has reached 10 days on perfect attendance.
At the end of the grading period, students with perfect attendance will receive a prize. The first semester prizes are an assortment of games.
Health and Wellness
Nurse Campbell spoke to our Kinder classes about being healthy, covering a cough, and proper handwashing. According to texas.gov, a new influenza season begins the first week of October and goes through the third week in May. There can be other respiratory viruses that circulate during the flu season and can cause similar symptoms and illness as the flu. Please be sure to remind your child to wash their hands before and after meals and cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. Together we can keep our students safe and healthy!
School Safety
Lockdown Drill This Week
We will practice a lockdown drill on Wednesday in cooperation with the SAISD Police Department. Texas law requires us to practice lockdown drills twice a year and once each semester. Successful drills provide participants with the "Muscle Memory" should an actual Lockdown occur. We will post a sign at the main entrance saying a drill is in progress.
Open House Hispanic Heritage Celebration: October PTA Meeting
October 3rd from 5:30 - 7:00
Don’t miss out on the celebration!!! All students and family members are encouraged to wear their Hispanic heritage attire during the day and for the Open House event. We will have some exciting student performances and you will have the opportunity to visit your child’s teacher and see what they have been learning.
Updated SAISD Policy: No Campus Food Deliveries for Students
No Food Deliveries Allowed for Students
The SAISD Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) acted to disallow food deliveries (Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.) on campus for students. This action aligns with the district’s local wellness goal to adhere to nutrition guidelines that advance student health, reduce childhood obesity, and promote food safety and security.
