Be REAL Student's of the Week
Congratulations to Shawn Shelman, Jesslyn Castillo, Ashley Martinez, Bradley Lura, Christopher Santiesteban, Dylan Ward, and Jedrick Tagarino for being selected for this week's Be REAL students of the week.
We look for our Eagles to: BE Respectful Engaged Accountable Leaders
Artists of the Week
Ceramic students are hard at work! They learned about patterns and had to create a design that included a pattern using the Elements of Art. Students also learned about a new glazing technique (stuff that makes ceramics shiny) called underglaze. They also used it in the design of their tiles. Please enjoy the great work from the students and see if you can spot any patterns in the artwork.

Tutoring
VIRTUAL *LIVE* Tutoring (Virtual Tutoring with a Live Person)
Did you know that your student has LIVE 24 HOUR FREE tutoring available in your student's PowerSchool? Our district has partnered with Princeton Review to provide every student with this amazing service. Your student can be connected with a tutor in any subject any time of the day, for FREE. These are not videos, they are live, vetted, tutors. Think of Uber, but for tutoring! The tutors will even edit papers for your student with less than a 24 hour turn-a-round period.
The easiest way to access this free, live, virtual tutoring, is to have your student log into google with their school account, log into Power School, look on the left side of the screen and find the live tutor button, and follow the easy to follow directions from there. If you need assistance, CLICK HERE or the button below for a tutorial.
In-Person 0-Period Live Tutoring on Campus
Students must check in at the door for tutoring. Students must be working quietly or receiving tutoring to be in the library before school.
We will host all tutoring in the library during these hours with adult tutors to assist your students. Use this time for quiet work time or to get specific help from our tutors.
TUTOR TIP: Have your work out and ready. Have specific questions for tutors. Get help when you are stuck!
How does my child get lunch?
Lunch is free for all and can be found at the multiple lunch sites on campus.
This change means students are not required to complete a meal application or provide any specific documentation, however, we are still required to gather family income and demographic information to ensure that your student benefits from additional state and federal programs that are available.
The California Department of Education uses this confidential information to identify qualifications for additional funding that provides for many programs and opportunities for our students. Based on the information provided, eligible students may receive fee waivers for the PSAT, SAT, free college applications, or much more. The AVUHSD is eligible for additional supplemental and targeted funding for our student programs and services based on a variety of factors, including this data.
Lancaster parents, we need your help! Please, regardless of qualifications, or social-economic standing, please help us provide the best opportunities that we can for our students by taking the few minutes it takes to fill out this form. If you need any assistance filling out this form, email food@avhsd.org.
