Honoring our Principals
In honor of School Principals’ Day (May 1), please join us in thanking all of our hard-working leaders who ensure our schools are safe and welcoming places for students and staff. We know you devote many hours and give so much of yourselves to inspire our kids, cultivate your school culture, and support and celebrate the success of our students and staff. As we wind down another school year, we hope you feel how much you are respected and appreciated!

Four students from the Wentzville School District have been selected as winners in the Cuivre River Electric Cooperative’s 53rd Annual Youth Tour Competition. Sanjana Anand, Taylor Shay-Jakul, Amanda Yoder, and Jaden Zelidon from Liberty High School were selected as four of six winners out of almost 60 entrants from 12 area high schools in the annual contest that begins with an essay submission. The essays, all entitled “My Favorite Cooperative Principle,” were judged based on the student’s cooperative knowledge, composition, originality, grammar, and neatness. Normally, a finals banquet and competition are held each year where finalists present their essays orally. However, due to the coronavirus situation, the judges read each of the essays remotely and the scores from the preliminary and finals competition were combined to determine this year’s Youth Tour delegates

The Wentzville School District is proud to announce that Wentzville Middle School physical education teacher Jennifer Werner has been named SHAPE America’s 2021 National Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) America.

Students from Holt, Liberty, and Timberland high schools competed at the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference held virtually this year due to the pandemic, April 11-13. Nineteen WSD students brought home medals from the competition and eight of those students took top honors, qualifying them to advance to the National FBLA Leadership Conference to be held virtually, June 29-July 2, to compete against winners from each state.

Holt, Liberty, and Timberland’s top musicians competed in the MSHSAA State Solo and Ensemble Festival, which was held virtually in March this year due to the pandemic. WSD musicians, singers, and ensembles earned 44 gold, 55 silver, and 12 bronze ratings.

The WSD Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Keri Skeeters as Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, effective July 1, 2021. She is replacing Dr. Megan Stryjewski who has been named the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment in the Valley Park School District. Dr. Skeeters is currently the Director of Instructional Programming in the Teaching and Learning Department and has been with the Wentzville School District since 2002.

The 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best High School Rankings have been released, and all three District high schools were named to the prestigious list of the Best High Schools in Missouri. Liberty was named the 31st best high school in the state, Timberland was ranked #42 and Holt was ranked #83 of all high schools in Missouri. The rankings evaluate more than 600 public high schools in Missouri and more than 23,000 nationwide and schools are ranked based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
