
PHS Upcoming Events
Week of October 7th, 2019
Dear PHS Families,
Today marks the midway point of the first Marking Period of the 2019-20 school year. Please take some time to speak with your student and check SchoolTool to make sure that all assignments have been turned in to their teachers. Progress Reports will be mailed home next Friday, October 11th.
On Friday, October 11th, PHS will be dismissing at 10:35 to allow faculty and staff to participate in professional development activities. We will be running Periods 1-4 as normal; however, there will be no afternoon (11th grade) Seaway Tech (BOCES). PHS will also be closed on Monday, October 14th (Columbus Day). Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 15th (Day 5).
The organizational meeting for National Honor Society for 2019-2020 will take place Monday, October 7th, at 2:20 in Room 750. All current members should attend. Those students who were selected for membership last spring, but were not inducted, should also attend. We will be inducting several new members, electing officers for this year, and going over the National Honor Society activity schedule for fall semester. Those students who do not attend Monday's meeting should contact Miss Preston to arrange a time to make up for the missed meeting.
Important information for students scheduled to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th: The test starts promptly at 7:45 a.m. You will need to be at the AAK LGIR no later than 7:35 a.m. If you ride a bus, please get off at AAK. If you drive, you will need to park at the high school and walk to AAK. Bring two No. 2 pencils and a graphing or scientific calculator.
Any student interested in retaking a Regents Exam in January should sign up in the guidance office by Friday, October 11th.
PHS "Picture Retake Day" is Friday, October 18th. If you missed the first picture day, be sure to pick up an order form from the main office. If you are getting a retake, please be sure to return your pictures to the photographer. You can also place your order online at mylifetouch.com by using the Picture Day ID: VJ029006Q1.
The Potsdam Central School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is hosting a Harvest Carnival for the elementary school children at the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School Gym. The event is on Saturday, October 19th, from 2:00-5:00 pm. The PTSA is looking for volunteers to help with this event by running a carnival game, facepainting, helping with concessions, etc. Please use the buttons below to view the event flyer and sign up to volunteer!

The Potsdam Booster Club has begun their annual Blue & Orange Discount Card sale. Cards cost $10 each and can be purchased from any fall sport athlete or from the main office at the high school. You can also contact Mr. Wilson (mwilson@potsdam.k12.ny.us) directly for purchases. Thank you for your support of the Potsdam Athletic Program.
Athletics are in full swing; you can keep up to date on Potsdam team practices and games using the Section X Calendar. You also have the option of subscribing to the calendar and getting regular reminders and updates.
Can't make it to the game? All Potsdam Modified, JV, and Varsity athletic contests scheduled for the turf field or the high school gym are available through live video stream or video on demand on the NFHS Network. A subscription is required to watch the live stream or the VOD can be viewed for free a short time after the conclusion of the contest. Please contact Mr. Wilson (mwilson@potsdam.k12.ny.us) in the Athletics Office with any questions.
The PHS Library is open Monday through Thursday each week from 2:15 to 4:00 pm for any students to get extra help on homework, to work on a group project, or just to take advantage of a quiet space.
