This month, our schoolwide theme is our school as a welcoming place where every student feels like he or she belongs. In our morning announcements we’ll be reminding students to welcome others and act and speak in safe, respectful, and responsible ways. In addition we’ll be reminding students of our school rules.

This month we also began teaching the Second Step program, which includes lessons that support these behaviors.

Support your child at home in welcoming others and acting and speaking in safe, respectful, and responsible ways. Please tell your child’s teacher if you have questions about specific ways you can help your child with these behaviors at home.

Your child(ren) should have brought home Parent/Teacher Conference sign-up forms this past week. Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, October 1. Students do not attend school that day. Conferences are being held from 11:00am - 7:00pm on October 1. Please take some time to indicate your time preference for your conference and to return the form to your child’s teacher. These conferences are very important for all parents to attend! These formal conferences are only held one time during the school year, and we hope to meet with every parent of every child during this time. Our goal is 100% participation and meeting with 100% of our parents. During conferences, parents will receive their child’s first quarter report card. Teachers will discuss students academic and behavioral performance, which will allow you to have a better understanding of your child’s strengths and areas of need.

The week of September 23 has been designated as College Go Week and Pink Week. This week allows us to draw attention to students’ post-graduation college and career paths. In addition, through Pink Week we can show our support for the fight against cancer. Look for more information to come home explaining how your students can participate in activities during this week.

3rd and 4th grade parents mark your calendars for September 19th from 6-8PM! The PTA would like to invite you to join them at Liberty Park where the Indiana State Police will provide a presentation for parents of 3rd and 4th graders in Warren Township titled "Be Internet Awesome". Childcare for school age children will be available. You don't want to miss this!

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES are coming up on Tuesday, October 1. These are very important meetings with your child’s teacher. Please look for a letter coming home with your child(ren) that will give more information about conference times. Teachers will discuss student progress and performance as well as distribute report cards during these conferences. We ask parents to make every attempt to attend a conference with their child(ren)’s teacher. If you did not receive a sign-up sheet please reach out to your student's teacher.

Our PTA will be selling ice cream on Friday, September 20th during lunch hours. To purchase ice cream students must bring in $1.00.

Why attendance matters?

Fact: Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year.

Our September attendance contest is going strong! Students with perfect attendance for the week receive a small treat each Monday. At the end of September students with 100% perfect attendance for the month of September will be invited to celebrate with EA staff! Thank you parents for your support!!!

Warren Township's exclusion date is September 16th. Please have the immunizations up to date before September 16th so that your student will not miss any school. If you need to schedule an appointment after September 16th please call the nurse at 317-532-3150 to let her know the date of your appointment. Your child will not be excluded if you have a scheduled appointment. You will have until the appointment date to complete the shots. If you have any questions or concerns please call Nurse Marlene.

If you’ve been notified that we need your child’s immunization records, please get those to us as soon as possible. We need these records to ensure that students will not have to be excluded from school. Immunization records should be sent to school by Monday, September 16.

VIEW MENU

Warren Township Schools, in partnership with Chartwells K12, publish breakfast and lunch menus through Nutrislice - an interactive website and a free smartphone app. Our school community can access our menus anywhere, anytime! Click here for the menus or download the menu Nutrislice app.

Parents and students at Chartwells districts across the country have access to descriptions, images, and nutrition and allergy information for all menu items. Our menus are also accessible on the web, mobile devices, tablets, and as a traditional PDF that can be printed and put on the fridge. We have developed our own portfolio of beautiful photos of our recipes and created exciting content and nutrition education that engages both students and parents!

Chartwells will provide reasonable modifications to students with medical needs/disabilities on a case-by-case basis with proper medical documentation from a physician or medical provider. Please contact Resident Dietitian, Haley Quade at 317-869-4441 for more information.

Please refrain from bring fast food into the building during student lunch times. We encourage you to eat a school lunch or pack a lunch from home.

While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. Also, note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.

Our 1st PTA meeting of the school year will be held on August 27th @ Eastridge Elementary School (enter through door 1). PTA meetings begin at 6 pm and end at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Warren Township School District has a new app and website! The purpose of the app and website is to provide regular updates through the live feed, district news, and

district events sections as well as other important district information. The app includes easy access to the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, staff contacts, district documents, bullying and safety reporting form, and much much more.
