Bethany Elementary School
We love our new Bethany media specialist Jennifer Long! She taught fourth graders how to draw a sphero program to replicate Earth’s revolution around the sun to supplement our space unit! The kids had a blast learning with her! Can’t wait for more!
Bethany Elementary staff enjoyed preparing for our World Read Aloud Day virtual visit with author Kristina Holzweiss as we learn to use our brand new library!
Bethany Elementary instructor Ana Herrera completed the Global Schools Advocate Program. We are grateful to the Global Schools Advocate Program for this unique opportunity for local and global connections!
Dillard Academy
Thank you to Southland Dairy for coming to do a presentation with our students last week! The students were so interested in learning about the cows and Southland Dairy!
Thank you to the WRMS Band director, Mr. Terrell, for his class visit at Dillard Academy to get our students pumped up about band!
Last week we were able to celebration SRO Pittman for National Law Enforcement day! We appreciate you, SRO Pittman!
Third graders got to make shaving cream paper in art class!

Douglass Elementary School
Douglass Elementary is thankful for the Eden Special Response Team (SRT) We appreciate all that you do to keep our school safe!
We are so excited to welcome back Mrs. Minuci, our art teacher at Douglass Elementary, for the second semester!
Huntsville Elementary School
After doing lessons focused on ice cream for a week, students in Ms. Fox's math groups measured and made ice cream in a bag. What a delicious way to make real world connections between math and day-to-day life!
In an effort to put books in our students' homes, Huntsville Elementary school is conducting a Book Blast! from now until Friday, February 3! Every child in our school will receive at least one age appropriate, popular title, but could potentially receive additional books if our school receives enough donations.
Huntsville's PTA is posting the "blanket" donation link on their Facebook page and the school would be grateful for additional books. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide the folks at Huntsville!
Leaksville-Spray Elementary School
Shout out to Mrs. Martinez for her amazing Fundations lesson!
Third grade teachers are working to foster number sense at Leaksville-Spray Elementary School. Great work Dolphins!
First grade students at Leaksville-Spray Elementary School were learning about Martin Luther King Jr. in class! They joined hands and sang a song about him!
Mrs. Lathrop and her kindergarten friends love visiting Mrs. Albertson in the afternoon!
On January 26th, LSE hosted our Winter Wonderland drive-thru event! Students visited their grade level teachers to receive literacy strategies and received a bag of goodies from Mrs. Law and Mrs. Combs.
Ms. Bruce says thank you to transportation for fixing her bus! Students love riding the bus in the afternoon!
Thanks Ms. Minuci for celebrating with us in our end of the semester PBIS celebration! We wish you an amazing second semester at Douglass & will miss you!
To wrap up the the first semester, students participated in a "Glow Party" for our PBIS celebration! LSE dolphins enjoyed glow sticks, glow balloons, and lots of dancing! Students were also encouraged to sign their name on a poster for recognition in their attendance!
Lincoln Elementary School
Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page visited Lincoln Elementary School! He ate lunch in Lincoln’s cafeteria, spoke encouraging words to our students, and thanked each of our teacher assistants personally for their dedication! #rcsrocks #countywidecollaboration

Monroeton Elementary School
David Barker was notified he will be inducted into the North Carolina Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Congratulations Mr. Barker!

South End Elementary School
Awesome nonfiction writing from our first graders at South End Elementary School! Way to go Bears!

We are so proud of our mathematicians at South End! They have been working so hard to learn their addition and multiplication facts! Kindergarten students can join our Counting Club, 1-2 students join our Leaders of Addition Club, while our 3-5 students join our Leaders of Multiplication club! In addition to to our club students can choose a fact they know well and be timed for our Olympic Fast Facts Club!
Thank you Sergrant Broadnax and Private Enoch for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit Ms. Joyce's fourth grade class at South End before their upcoming deployment! We are grateful for your service to the United States and community! Thank you!
Stoneville Elementary School
Mrs. Meeks' second grade students had a great time making snow, painting snowman, and building snowman and igloos!

Wentworth Elementary School
We were excited to recognize our SOARing Eagles for the month of January. These Eagles did a great job of meeting SOAR expectations!
We were excited to have Gemma come visit our classrooms this week. She brought a bright smile to everyone’s face!
Congratulations to Ms. Collins second grade class for having the most students at our PTA skate night! Students won a popcorn party and Ms. Collins won a gift card to Texas Roadhouse!

Williamsburg Elementary School
On January 20, 1840, Williamsburg School opened its doors in Rockingham County as the first free public school in the state of North Carolina, established under Common School Law of 1839.
Our NC public school legacy traces back to a one room school “Garrett Academy” in the southeast corner of Rockingham County. We salute Williamsburg for its distinguished role in the history of public education in the state of North Carolina, and its nearly two centuries of service to the children of Rockingham County! Happy birthday!

A group of ten middle and high school teachers/support staff completed Gifted Educator Experts for Kids training this week, and are now better prepared to serve the gifted students in their classrooms!
The Rockingham County Student Health Centers will offer free sports physicals to high school students and rising ninth graders on the following dates until 4:30 p.m.:
—-Morehead High School (Wednesday, February 22)
—-McMichael High School (Wednesday, March 1)
—-Rockingham County High School (Wednesday, March 8)
—-Reidsville High School (Wednesday, March 15)
Students must have a signed consent form to use the health centers and a completed sports physical form to receive a sports physical. If a student is unable to go to their home school on the scheduled date, they may go to any of the other schools as long as they have their paperwork. Consent forms and sports physical forms are available for pickup in the Student Health Center, the Main Office, and Student Services.
A total of 21 high school juniors and seniors were invited to participate in the RockATOP Apprenticeship 2023 Invitational. This event is the next step in the process to help determine who will ultimately be accepted as an apprentice at one of the partnering companies. The RockATOP Invitational is a four evening after-school program that will allow students to showcase their ability to learn. Each student will be able to better understand the specific occupational needs of each company and work with company representatives to determine a potential match with their interests and abilities with the needs of our partnering companies. Congratulations to all who were invited!
Rockingham County Schools will be holding a series of Parent Information/Feedback Nights over the next several weeks. These Parent Information/Feedback Nights will be for parents across Rockingham County to get more information about RCS, to get their questions answered, and to learn more about our amazing schools!
