Hope you've had a great start to 2023! Our students are doing amazing things across the district from basketball to art to math and running club! Hope you are able to see some of the great things! Tonight I am off to the District Art Show! We have several awards to be awarded tonight. You are welcome to come to the Merrell center to see the art!

2023-2024 TJH Course Selection Important Information

On January 18th current 6th and 7th-grade students will get information regarding course selection for the next school year during HomeBase. Students will receive a planning sheet with a list of courses, a handout with TinyURL to submit applications, and access to how-to guides for SchooLinks.

The window for course selection opens on January 20 through January 31. Students will use SchooLinks to input their course selections and alternate elective choices. Tays counselors will meet individually with each student to review their course choices between February 6 – March 3 during the student’s RLA class.

Counselors will host a parent chat for our current 6th and 7th-grade parents. During the chat, counselors will present information about course selection and answer any questions. To register for the course selection chat, please fill out the tinyurl.com/TJHPC. This chat is not mandatory.

TJH Counselors will be unable to schedule individual parent meetings regarding course selection. Please submit any questions about course selection using the grade-level-specific question forms below

Additional Course Selection information, including videos, planning sheets, elective guides, and student applications, will be shared with parents on Wednesday, January 18.

20 of our Titan art students participated in the Katy ISD rodeo art show this week. 5 of our titan artists placed in the district top 10 for junior high, 14 artists placed in the top 40 (20% of the 190 total entries), and 1 student received a second-place finish. The students whose artwork finished in the district top 10; their work will advance to the NRG for another round of judging. At the NRG, these artworks will be judged by the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo art committee; along with all junior high entries in the greater Houston area in hopes that their work will be selected to be on display during the 2023 HSLR this February/March.

Happy New Year! Our running club started running on the big trail in preparation for our big race on Feb. 11. Titans Running Club meets again Monday, Jan. 23 at 4:15pm. We are ready to go out and raise awareness for our Katy ISD foundation. Katy ISD education foundation has provided thousands of dollars to teacher grant recipients all over Katy ISD. We want to support their efforts to help all our students and teachers. If you are interested in joining our team or donating to our school team, please click the link below. We appreciate your support.

If you would like to join us, please meet by the portables at 4:15pm. We will be running the reservoir trail. Pick up students at 4:55pm by the bike racks next to the portables.

We want to ensure that all students have access to technology devices at home to aide their learning. If your student is in need of technology at home, we have a limited number of Chromebooks available for checkout. These Chromebooks will be checked out to the student and must be returned at the end of the school year. Please complete this google form if you would like to check out a Chromebook and one will be assigned to your student in the next few days.

The Katy ISD Transportation Department is excited to communicate that all 2021 – 2022 route buses are equipped with GPS systems. With the GPS systems, parents, campuses and transportation personnel are able to track buses in real-time through a downloadable application from Edulog. For parents and patrons having children who are eligible for transportation services in Katy ISD, the link below contains information on how to download the application. Would you like to interact with High School Parents before scheduling decisions? Join us for a parent panel and ask any questions you may have about High School. the parent program will follow a brief General Membership Meeting at 6:30 PM. Please note that you must be a PTSA member to vote at the meeting but not to attend. All Tays parents are welcome to attend meeting. Sign up here.
