Note from the Principal

Happy Friday Slater Nation!


I hope everyone's November is off to a great start. Below you will find information for a new Project Graduation fundraiser, information on an upcoming family event showing a documentary discussing cyber-bullying (November 16th) called The Upstander, and information on our November 15th community Belonging Potluck Feast (November 15th). We are also simultaneously celebrating our Fall sports while preparing for the winter season. If you would like to sign your child up for a winter sport, please register using the FormReLeaf website.


We will be selling Slater hats at our Saturday football game. All proceeds will go to the Thomas E. La Placa Fund designed to support students in financial need. Please refer to the flyer below for more details.


Our prospective future Stafford students are getting excited about this year's STC visits. STC will be coming to FHUMHS to present to the Sophomore class on November 8th. On November 28th, our Sophomores will be going to STC to explore their programming in person. If you have questions about Stafford, please contact your child(ren)'s counselor.


We are excited to be hosting the Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 8th and 9th. Please contact the school if you have any issues signing up to meet with your chil(ren)'s teachers.


Lastly, we will be printing progress reports and mailing them to you next week. We will complete our quarterly grade determination on Monday for extra-curricular eligibility and senior privileges.

AP Psych

Students recently completed the Visual Perception Lab where they wore perception-altering goggles and tried to perform multiple trials of specific tasks (pouring water from one cup to another, shooting baskets, tossing and catching a stress ball, etc.).

The lab explored whether students would experience any degree of perceptual adaptation to the new view of the world their brains were receiving as a result of the goggles.

Some goggles flipped the world completely upside down and some shifted their visual field 30 degrees to the left. One station also required them to wear an eye patch to explore the concepts of retinal disparity and monocular v. binocular cues.

November 8th and 9th - Family/Teacher Conferences

FHUMHS will hold evening conferences on November 8th, and afternoon conferences on November 9th. Sign-up information has been shared via parent/guardian email. While we love in-person conferences, we are happy to accommodate virtual meetings as well!

November 14th - ASVAB Testing

We will be holding ASVAB testing on November 14th for students who have signed up. the testing will occur during the school day.

November 29th - Senior Financial Aid Information Night

Join our high school counseling team at 5:30 pm in the Cafeteria to discuss important financial aid information for post-secondary school.
