Lincoln One Book One School!
Principally Speaking
Once again this week we thought we would have a full week of school, and mother nature had other plans. Due to this our end date may be adjusted, as most likely we will need to make up our snow, cold, and weather days. This will be officially discussed by the school board, and we will let families know when we are informed.
As you can see February, has a few changes in schedules as well. We have President's Day, an early release, and a half day on February 29th, for parent conferences. Also that evening wil be our PTO Bingo night.
February 29, elementary students in D303 will have a half-day of school because the afternoon is dedicated to parent-teacher conferences. These conferences are a bit different in their purpose from our fall conferences. Fall parent-teacher conferences are laid out over 16 hours (12 on Thursday and four on Friday) and are designed to ensure all families have the opportunity for a 20 minute conference with their student's teacher to discuss academic, social, emotional, and behavioral performance, ask any questions, and share any concerns.
The February 29 (sometimes referred to as midyear or spring) conferences have not been used since 2019. These conferences provided teachers the opportunity to connect with families of students that needed the most support. The February 29 conferences, while 20 minutes, have a much shorter window of 12:30 to 3:00. This means we can only fit six conferences in this window. Your Lincoln teacher will be sending a letter home with more information; however, we are unable to hold conferences with everyone. On behalf of our staff, I apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort this may cause.
A bit of information on February 29's schedule. Due to the 11:30 dismissal, students are not having lunch at school that day. Classrooms will take a snack break at some point in the morning, as they usually do.
If you have any questions or thoughts to share, please, do not hesitate to reach out to me at michelle.woodring@d303.org or via my direct line at (331) 228-5436. Thank you very much and have a wonderful day!

Students work on this at school and at home, we encourage you to check in and see how they are doing, and encourage them to complete the required minutes, as it is a proven way to improve skill development.

Lincoln Reminders
Pick up and drop off procedures
The car line on the north side of the building is for drop off, please do not park your car and get out. If you feel like your child needs assistance getting out of their car seat or you need to get out during the process please park your car in the library lot and you can walk them over to the door.
When picking up for an appointment early
If your son or daughter needs to leave school mid-day for an appointment, please understand that we will not call your child down to the office until you are here. Time in school is very limited and every moment counts, once you are here we will call them and promptly have them come down to leave with you, but we do not want to call ahead because often they are missing valuable instruction waiting for the pick up due to unforeseen circumstances. Thank you for understanding.
A Message from Ms. Semenek
Dear Lincoln families,
Please note the following in order for your child to safely and actively participate in PE this year:
Tennis Shoes must be worn. No sandals, slick-soled shoes, rubber spikes, clogs, boots, heels, or croc-type shoes. These shoes are not safe for activity!
Shorts or Pants are appropriate for the gym. Shorts and leggings are recommended underneath skirts/dresses).
Illnesses or Injuries that would prevent your child from participating in PE should be explained in a note from you. A doctor’s excuse is necessary for any child missing more than three days of gym.
Weather is changing, so please send your child to school in layers (sweaters/jackets) recommended as we will be going outside even throughout the winter months.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ms. Semenek
Parent Education Sessions
District 303 is pleased to present its lineup of Parent Education sessions for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Parent Education series (formerly Parent University) includes informational meetings and workshops intended to empower parents and guardians to support their children’s academic, social and emotional needs. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others.
