Ready to Thrive in the 21-22 SY

Welcome Back!

It's back to school time and we are so excited to welcome all of our students and families back to Truman. It's hard to believe that we are just a week away from our first day of school for the 2021-2022 school year. Our administrative team, counselors, support staff, and teachers, have all been working hard planning and getting our building and classrooms ready for our students.

Registration, Residency Verification, & Schedules:

As of Monday Aug. 16th, a little over 1400 students have have registered online, which is AWESOME, but about 200 of those students are still lacking some residency verification documents OR have an obligation, which prevents us from emailing their schedule. If you haven't completed this process yet, please try to get that done as soon as possible, but definitely before the end of the week. You can start that process here http://sites.isdschools.org/admissions. Please don't forget to check https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/getmain?requestAction=home to clear obligations. As families complete this process, we will email out schedules and bus passes on Monday 8/16, Wednesday 8/18, and Friday 8/20 after 1pm. If you believe you have completed the process and have not or do not receive the email, please contact our office at 816-521-5350 so we can assist you.

Parting thought:

One thing we've learned over the past two years is that together we can face the challenges that come our way and persevere through them. It's one of the things that makes Truman a such a special place. I've never been prouder of our students, parents, and staff than during these challenging times because the challenges have revealed who we are as a learning community-a kind, compassionate, hard-working group of students and adults doing our best everyday! We look forward to thriving together this year.

At high school, it's usually best to wait until you've seen all your teachers and received their syllabi to get your school supplies.

It's a full day of school! We begin class each day promptly at 7:15, so arrive in plenty of time to be in class on time. We release at 2:25 pm.

Student parking permits can be purchased through my school bucks and processed in the front office after school and during lunch the first two weeks of school.

Event Information

Open House

Open House is one of our favorite nights to meet & connect with our families. In order to provide a safe in-person Open House experience, we are asking families to attend during certain time frames based on their last name as identified below. All participants will pass by a non-touch thermal scanner, be checked in for contact tracing, be masked at all times , and sign in at each room or space they visit throughout the evening. We also have hand sanitizers stations in all room/spaces for frequent use. At 5pm and 7pm, Mrs. Scott will hold a voluntary meeting to share our Title I Plan for the upcoming school year. Please have your student write out their schedule for you, or be able to access Canvas or Powerschool via your phone so you can walk through the schedule with them, meet their teachers, etc. We look forward to seeing you!

Event Information

School Picture Day

Nothing says back to school like School Picture Day!

Students will take their school pictures in the Small Gym during the English class.

All students will get their photo taken as this will be for the photo for their student ID.

Senior photos taken this summer by Strawbridge will be used for the yearbook. If your senior did not get their senior portrait taken this summer, there will be make-up dates during the school day in October.

For 9-11th graders, this will also be their photo for the yearbook as well as their ID.

Only photos taken by Strawbridge will be put in the yearbook. No outside photos are accepted.
