Chromebooks!
Now that the school year is underway, we are experiencing a rash of Chromebook repairs. Please keep in mind the following:
If a student is having a problem with a Chromebook they need to see Mrs. Whitlock.
The deadline for insurance is past so any damage on uninsured devices will result in costs to the student responsible for the damage.
Students should avoid eating or drinking around the Chromebook. Liquid will fry the Chromebook and crumbs can interfere with the keyboard.
Students should be careful when carrying and storing their Chromebook. We have had many broken screens from dropped devices or stepped on backpacks.
Students should not be horseplaying around the Chromebooks or touching other people's devices. It is very easy to break the screen if the lid is closed while something is on the keyboard. Bumping them off a slanted desk has also led to damaged devices.
Lost keys can be fixed for $5 a key, but needs to be done before the rubber part of the keyboard becomes permanently damaged. Once that happens, the entire keyboard must be replaced.
The cost for repair is as follows:
Entire Chromebook - $250
Screen Replacement - $100
Keyboard Replacement - $50
Camera Module Replacement - $25
Replacement Charger - $25
Single Key Replacement - $5
Please help your student remember to charge and bring their Chromebook to school every day!
