Dear Hueneme Families,
On behalf of the Hueneme Staff, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the 2021-2022 school year! We are thrilled to welcome students and families back to a full time regular schedule. We recognize the current conditions and HESD has provided a Resource Guide to answer questions that you may be having (click the blue rectangle below labeled Resource Guide). Yet, we are committed to fostering academic excellence, perseverance, resilience, grit, and empathy to help our students thrive. We look forward to partnering with our families once again to help students achieve their highest potential. Our staff is committed to helping your student be successful in school, and recognize that students need support from both the home and school. We ask that you guide and support your student's learning by ensuring that he/she/they:
- Attend school daily and arrive on time, ready for the day's learning experience. Instruction begins at 8:00 am.
- Completes all assignments given by teachers
- Read daily to develop a love for reading and improving literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college and/or a career
The Hueneme "Hero" Staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you. Throughout the year, I encourage you to become an active member of PTA, School Site Council, and English Learner Advisory Committee.

**UPDATE**
Entering School: For the 2021-2022 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:40-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip.
We will be using our temperature scanners to take students temperatures as they arrive onto the campus. This is new information that is different from our Resource Guide below.
Class List Postings: Our office will be posting class lists on Tuesday, August 24 at 4:30. If you chose to not have your student's name posted, please call the school office on Wednesday, August 25 to get that information.
Student Symptom Tree: *Reminder* Please do a passive screening with your child prior to coming to school. If you notice any of the symptoms on the flyer(see link below), your child may not be able to come onto campus. Please call the office if you have any questions.

Supplies: HESD provides many school school supplies for students. Please make sure that your student has a backpack. If you wish to purchase additional supplies, please contact your child's teacher via email next week for specific items needed for that grade level.
