BOBCAT NATION
A professional reminder: Students may not leave your classrooms during the first 15 minutes of class time. Please help us and yourself by protecting your instructional minutes. Our purpose here is to maximize learning. Please take a few minutes to reflect on the following questions regarding your current practices.
- Where are you as students walk into your classroom?
- Are you greeting students at the door?
- Where are you when the tardy bell rings?
- What do you do when the tardy bell rings?
- Where are your students when the tardy bell rings?
- Are there any students walking in late to your class? What is your expectation?
- Are your students excited when they walk into your classroom?
- Do students know what to do when they walk in?
- What happens within the first minute of class time?
- Do you state your purpose within the first minute?
- Is there a daily bell ringer?
- Are your materials/resources/supplies ready for instruction?
- How quick are your students engaged? As soon as they walk in? 1-minute mark? 2-minute mark? 3-minute mark?
- What is your level of enthusiasm?
- How intentional are you with your first 15 minutes?
Remember, your level of excitement, purpose, and commitment will be reciprocated by your students. Trust that the first 15 minutes will determine the success of your lesson.
