Message From Mr. Mitchell
It's been a great Homecoming Week so far, and we are excited about the parade this afternoon, the game tonight and the dance tomorrow! Our students have done a great job of participating in the Powder Puff football game, dressing up for the spirit days, cheering for our Homecoming Court, and having an exciting vibe in the building all week!
If you have not taken a look at it already, please see the information below regarding our SHS Parent Partnership Night on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, from 6:30-8:00, beginning in the SHS Auditorium. The evening will consist of an opening message from Superintendent Dr. Lyon, and then information sessions regarding the instructional technology that students and families use, standards based grading, and an open forum with myself and Dr. Lyon. It is a great event for people who want to know more information about how to support their student throughout high school, especially for families that are newer in their high school careers.
Our monthly staff meeting is next week, and we'd love to recognize as many of the great interactions you and your students have had with SHS staff, so please fill out our Celebrate Sherwood Staff form below!
Have a great weekend, and Go Bowmen!
Adam Mitchell
Principal, SHS

CELEBRATE SHERWOOD STAFF!
As you may have heard, the Sherwood School District is engaged in many activities to Celebrate our schools, our students, our staff, and our community. At Sherwood High School, we would love your help in recognizing our staff members who are doing amazing things for our students and families. When you have any positive and exceptional experienced or interactions with our staff, please use the button below to share those with us! We will share that information with the staff member, as well as use any submissions to help identify a staff member of the month that we will recognize at our staff meetings! Bring on those great stories, thank you!
Sherwood High School Tardy Policy
Being on time to class is very important at Sherwood High School. It is our expectation that students enter the classroom before the start of class or they will be marked "Tardy.” The spirit of this policy is to decrease the number of students being late to class which results in lost learning time.
The school will NOT penalize students for being late due to appointments. When a student is coming back from an appointment they need to check-in with the attendance office so they are not marked absent and to receive a pass to class.
Tardies will be tracked by period.
Starting for the month of October the following consequences will be in place for Tardies:
1st Tardy: Warning
2nd Tardy: Teacher/Student conversation
3rd Tardy: Teacher notifies parents
4th Tardy: Attendance Referral generated by Attendance Office, student assigned detention by Administration
5th Tardy+: Attendance Referral generated by Attendance Office, student assigned detention by Administration, and other potential consequences as needed.
Tardy counts will reset at the start of each new trimester.
Please contact Anne Confer, Dean of Students with any questions at aconfer@sherwood.k12.or.us
Activity Bus
The Activity Bus has begun running Monday- Thursday, departing SHS at 4:30pm (3:30pm on Wednesday) from the front of the building in the bus lane. If your student stays after school for a club, activity, sport or to work with a teacher they can utilize this bus to get home IF they are finished by 4:30pm.If their activity finishes after 4:30pm you will need to arrange transportation for them. There will be two routes through town that can be viewed here:
Please review these routes with your student and help them choose the best route and stop for them. These routes/stops are different from your student’s regular route. If you have any questions please contact the main office.
Attendance Reporting
To report absences please call (503) 825-6010 or email SherwoodHigh_Notification@sherwood.k12.or.us. By calling or emailing ahead a note can be sent to your student and they can be waiting in the office for you. Unexcused absences must be corrected within 48 hours or they will remain unexcused absences. If an athlete is absent due to an appointment a medical note from a doctors office is required to excuse the absence and make the student eligible for participation that day.
