Good morning Johnson High School Students and Parents,

Congratulations on finishing another year! We are proud of all of our students, families and staff and want to wish everyone a well deserved summer break.

Some important dates to keep in mind:

• Monday, May 27- Memorial Day Holiday. All Hays CISD Campuses Closed.
• Wednesday, May 29- JHS Graduation @2pm at Strahan Coliseum. See information below for more important details. All Seniors need to report to JHS at 10am on May 29.
• Monday, June 3- Summer School Begins. (See information below for details.)

Moe and Gene Johnson High School will be open Monday-Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm during the summer, closed on Fridays.

We will be closed, Monday, May 27 and Wednesday, June 19.

Graduation Information:

• May 29th at 2pm. Doors open for Parents at 12:30
• ALL GRADUATES report to JHS at 10am on May 29.
  
• EVERYONE will ride the bus to Strahan and will be allowed to leave with parents.
• DRESS CODE will be Sunday Best. No stoles other than JHS stole, No decorating of cap.
• AFTER the ceremony Seniors will return to the staging area to pick up their official diploma. Have a pre-determined meeting spot for after graduation. (Nice spots for pics by the river)

There are three surface lots that guests may access free of charge. Accessible parking for persons with disabilities is available near the University Events Center entrance (brown lot on map) at Jowers and Charles Austin. Texas State Parking informationTexas State Parking website

• Directions for Lot C (closest to the coliseum): Follow I-35 South to San Marcos. Take Exit #206. Turn right onto Hwy 82/Aquarena Springs Drive and turn left at the traffic light onto Thorpe Lane. Proceed until Thorpe Lane dead ends into Hopkins Street and take a right. Take your first right onto Charles Austin Drive. Parking will be available straight ahead on the right.

• Directions for Lots B (next closest lot to the coliseum): Follow I-35 South to San Marcos. Take Exit #206. Turn right onto Hwy 82/Aquarena Springs Drive and turn left at the traffic light onto Thorpe Lane. Proceed to the next light and take a right onto Robbie Lane. Parking is available at the end of the street.

• Directions for Lot A (furthest from the coliseum): Follow I-35 South to San Marcos. Take Exit #206. Turn right onto Hwy 82/Aquarena Springs Drive. Pass through the Thorpe Lane light and be in the right hand lane while approaching the overpass. Use the right hand lane to avoid taking the overpass. Proceed down the ramp and turn left under the overpass into Lot A.

Project Graduation

JHS Senior Class of 2024 join us for your end of year CELEBRATION!

When: May 29, 2024
Time: 10:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Where: Pinballz North
Cost: Student must have a ticket to enter, prices vary depending on when they are purchased.
Liability Forms: all students who pay to attend must have a parent liability form signed. These will be emailed out to Parents.

1 .School Starts at 8:55. We are seeing an increase in students coming in late to first period. Late students need to be coming in through the office when they arrive to school after 8:55.

2. Please send a note at least 24 hours in advance for students to self-check out. Students still need to come down to the office to complete the check out process.

3. We ask that you do not check out your student after 3:10PM due a high volume of activity at the end of the school day including parking and pick up traffic.

4.90% attendance rule in the State of Texas means that if your student is not present in their class at least 90% of the time they will not receive credit. Please send in notes to JHS.Attendance@hayscisd.net

Senior Parents!!

Will your student be turning 18 soon? The Texas Department of Health and Human Services has a state immunization registry known as ImmTrac. Children under the age of 18 have their immunization automatically added to the system BUT once a child turns 18 their immunization record is removed UNLESS the 18 year old completes the attached form and returns it to their School nurse or the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

Students 18 years and older will then be able to access their records for the rest of their adult life. This is helpful for those going off to college, entering healthcare fields of work, or need to know when their last tetanus shot was. This registry can be pulled by any healthcare facility in the states of Texas.

Busses will drop off in the West Parking lot and pick up in the East Side parking lot.

Parents can only drop off and pick up in the front of the school, please do not drop off or pick up your student in the bus lane.
